It sounds like, unfortunately, you have loaded a corrupt file.
Clean the disk by formatting from your system disk and try again.
Good luck and I hope the files go on complete this time.

like i said on the previous comment, ive not got a recovery disk, to reboot the laptop you press alt f10 on startup and it goes into a hidden partition to reload everything from

That is a real pain as the file you need is possibly corrupt on the hard drive anyway. I had the same with my Toshiba and had to buy a fresh disc in the end. Before we give up, if you can beg or borrow a cd with Check Disk burned on it, that may revive the corrupt part on your hard drive. Worth a go I would say.
Sorry to hear it and again, good luck.

Acer aspire 6920G card reader not detected, does not appear in Device Manager. Running Vista Home Premium and Firefox

Try to download driver from Official Acer site here. Choose your laptop model. Then choose Operating System. In the list below scroll down and click on arrow next to CardReader. After downloading driver install it. Reboot laptop. If that won't help then I suggest re-install Operating System.

Hi i put my acer aspire 6920 through a restore to fatory settings, it restarted itself and now it starts up as fair as the logo and then all that happens is a flashing line in the left hand corner please...

The BIOS can't locate the boot loader so windows can't be booted. It's a bad install, do the recovery procedure again. If it fails again then the hard disk is defective, replace it before reinstalling one more time.

I have an acer aspire 6920 laptop and i am trying to do a system restore but not have a disc, wat can i do

Reboot the system and on restart press the F8 key to access the advanced system options. Select repair my computer to start the system recovery partition.
This option will restore the system to factory settings and some files or programs will have to be reloaded.

How do i carry out a master reset to our acer 6920 laptop loaded with windows vista ps i dont have any master cd it came preloaded from pc world

Read the documentation that came with the system, or goto the Acer website to find out how to start the recovery program when you boot the system. On my Acer I have to enter the bios setup & goto the the recovery selection, choose that, & reboot.

Almost all systems today do not come with physical media {cds/dvds}. They have a section of the hard drive set aside for recovery to how the system was "right out of the box".

Booting problem.

hello, its possible that your partition is really defective or a software that you have installed has corrupted your windows os.  reformatting might solve your problem. If you really dont want to format because you have important files.  Try the following
1. Do not repair your OS. Install the windows Operationg System to another partition or harddisk.  By this way if you have succesfully installed the OS, you can now backup your files from your original partition. and then you can reformat the orginal partition.
2. you can also try a Bootable Operating System from a USB flash drive or Download a LIVE Linux Os so that you can backup your file, then you can reformat
3. you can try softwares that repair you partition, there are numerous softwares that offer to fix your partition. but it comes with a price.
