My HP LaserJet 3015 is also printing a shadow of text when I copy a document. Vertical lines appear in faxes and print jobs. I would love a solution - the only one I have found thus far is nothing - which means purchase a new printer?!

This sometimes happens when using compatible toner cartridges. Change your cartridge to an original failing this the other thing it could be is the fuser unit worn and ghosting. cheapest option is to change the toner cart first.
The shadow-like copy of text is definitely coming from a faulty tone cartridge, replace it and you will have your solution,
the verical lines are caused by a dirty optical lens which is located under the keypad, just lift that up and you will see a glass bar that is likely dirty, clean it well and this should solve this problem as well

I have a Canon printer. Whenever pictures or text gets a double or blurry image I open the printer solutions menu. It sounds as though there is a problem with inkjet alignment. By clicking the realignment button the printer will automatically realign the jets. I usually test the alignment by printing a page from that program. All the line segments should line up.
when you click on print, you should normally get a print window where you can indicate the page to be printer and the number of copies before you proceed with the print job.
Follow these steps to change print settings, and then print in Mac OS X 10.6.
Step one: Select your product
In the program from which you want to print, click File , and then click Print .
Figure 11: Click File, and then click Print
Select your product from the Printer: drop-down list.
Step two: Change print settings
Type the number of copies to print in the Copies text box.
If you want to print multiple copies, select the Collated check box to print the pages of each copy in order.
Select the pages of the print job that you want to print. To print all pages, select All. To print a specific range of pages only, type the page number that begins the page range in the From text box. Then, type the page number that ends the page range in the To text box.
Select the size and type of paper loaded in the product from the Paper Size drop-down list.
Select the orientation for your print job. To print in portrait orientation, click the icon on the left. To print in landscape orientation, click the icon on the right.
Step three: Change the paper type and quality settings
After the Orientation section, click the drop-down, and then select Paper Type/Quality .
NOTE:
This drop-down usually defaults to the program specific drop-down. In this example, the drop-down is the TextEdit drop-down.

Adjust the Paper Type setting to match the paper loaded in the product.
Adjust the Quality setting to change the print quality of the printed page.
Select Print Borderless to print photos without a white border.
To change the color profile or to turn on Photo Fix, click the arrow next to Color Options to display the Color Options menu.

Step five: Print the print job
After all the settings match the needs of the print job, click Print on the Print window to print the document or print job.
Check your printer driver. The printer is doing what the driver is telling it to do. Check the "printing preferences" button. Set it up to print "1 page per sheet".
Printed pages are VERY light, and the fuser temperature is low. The toner is not fixed on paper. Still it don`t give any errors. A detailed diagram of the power souce have anyone?
Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).
Go to the printer Setup button, hit Ok, then look for Print Quality, acess print quality and go to calibrate colors, run this calibration for 3 times.
Then go to services and run a 2 cleaning modes
You can try printing blank pages selecting "cardstock" as paper type to clean the fuser
