Try recycling the router by unplugging it then after 20 seconds plug it
back in. See if you can stay connected. If not, unplug the modem and the
router, then plug the modem in and let it cycle up for about a minute
or two, then plug the router in and let it cycle up.
If you turn your computer and router off at night, then when you turn
them back on, if the router boots up before the modem, it will have
connection problems. A power outage in the house causes the same thing
if the router cycles up before the modem.
When the router is turned on, the Internet light turns amber for
about 20 seconds and then turns green. If the light does not turn green, the router has a
problem.
If the Internet light is still amber 1 minute after turning on power to the router:
a. The Internet is not accessible. Confirm that you have the correct internet setting.
b. Clear the router's configuration to factory defaults. This will set the router's IP address to
192.168.1.1.
c. Turn the power off and back on to see if the router recovers.
If its still not working, reset to factory defaults.
You can restore the factory default configuration settings that reset the router's user name to
admin, the password to password, and the IP address to 192.168.1.1.
To restore the factory default configuration settings:
1. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings
button, located on the rear panel of the router, for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins
to blink (see "Back Panel" on page 4).
2. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power
light to stop blinking and become solid green.
The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web
browser using the factory defaults.
Make sure all the wires are connected properly. 1.-Unplug your modem and router from the power supply. Wait 1 minute. 2.-Plug your modem back to the power and wait for all the lights to stop flashing. 3.-Plug your router back to the power and wait for the lights to stop flashing Follow these steps and your internet should be working again!
Reboot your modem, router, and computer. Power them all down (unplug the modem and router if necessary) then boot the Modem, then after a minute boot the router, then your PC and see if all is well, it should be.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:
1. Check physical connections.
a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up. b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.
2. Access the router's web-based utility.
a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. b. Connect to the router by typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key. c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".
Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.
To reset the router:
a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds. b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
3. Configure the router.
If your Internet Service Provider is using a cable connection, please follow the steps below:
a. Click on Basic Settings under Setup tab. b. Select No for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?. c. Scroll down on the center page and look for the Router MAC Address section. Set it to Use computer MAC address and click on the Apply button.
If your Internet Service Provider is using a DSL connection, please follow the steps below:
a. Click on Basic Settings. b. Select Yes for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?. c. Select Other on the Internet Service Provider drop down box. d. Enter your ISP's username (username@ISPdomain) and password. Then, click on Apply.
4. Power cycle.
a. Power off the modem, router and computers. b. Turn on the power of the modem first and wait for it to initialize, the lights to stop blinking. c. Power back the router and the computers. Check if it will be able to get online.
From the above configuration, please check if you can now access the Internet.
try power cycling your network (turn off all of the hardware) First turn off the computer, second, the router; lastly the router (wgr614).
Now, turn the hardware in this order:
Turn on Modem. Wait 2 minutes.
Turn on Router (wgr614). wait 1 minute.
Now turn on the Computer(s).
this should refresh your internet connection. If not, check your routers settings for any wrong info. to access your router's homepage, type this (http://www.routerlogin.net) into Internet Explorer.
