If the document feeder is not feeding paper properly, the first thing I would suspect is the feed rollers ( 2 or 3 in total,) as they have the tendency to become dirty and worn. My suggestion would be to open the document feeder, take a clean rag and some general cleaner (no solvent,) and wipe down each roller as best you can. This will act to remove any trapped dirt or debris in the feed roller traction marks, and thus give you a more reliable document feeder. However, if this fails to alleviate the issue and the rollers appear worn, replacing them would be your next step.

I would suggest precisionroller.com as a good source for printer, copier, and fax supplies.

Put new roll in printer and paper feeds through then goes back out again

The printer should accept print paper ready for feed commands when computer sends jobs with clicks. A paper feeder tray may be clogged, attempt to open compartments to ascertain for misaligned or adjusted entrapment areas. Paper feeder adjustments that are tightened least allows feeder processing while loosened paper feeder clips allows several print papers at a time. Select the appropriate adjustment for the papers. Second, printers that run out of ink display sensitive malfunctions either as inability to feed paper when available. Ascertain that printer ink is available.

WILL FEED PLAIN WHITE PAPER BUT WILL NOT FEED PHOTO PAPER

Follow the steps:
•1
Turn on the printer and press the Paper Feed switch until the Auto Sheet Feeder indicator light turns on.
•2
Pull up on the paper sheet feeder on the top and back of the printer and slide out the paper support.
•3
Take a stack of no more than 10 pieces of photo paper and flatten the corners, if they are curled. Curled corners may cause jams within the printer.
•4
Place the paper in the paper sheet feeder with the printable side of the paper facing up. The printable side of photo paper is the shiny or whiter side of the paper.
•5
Print your documents as needed.

Paper Cassette :

•1
Switch on the printer and press the Paper Feed switch until the Cassette indicator light turns on.
•2
Pull on the cassette on the bottom of the printer to slide it out of the printer.
•3
Flatten the corners of a stack of no more than 10 sheets of photo paper if the corners are curled. The paper may become jammed in the printer if the corners are curled.
•4
Place the stack of paper in the cassette so the paper is touching the right side and the printing side of the paper is facing down. Adjust the plastic paper guides so they touch the paper. The paper stack guides help facilitate the paper moving into the printer.
•5
Slide the cassette back into the bottom of the printer. The printer is ready for printing.

Feed 1 paper at a tym

try freeing up the paper before you insert it into the printer. an easy way to do this so to "fan" the paper by holding one end and letting each paper on the other end be released one by one.
another thing is that you may be inserting the paper too much inside the paper tray. try inserting the paper slowly and stop at the first slightest notch you feel

I865 flashing 3 times

That's a "paper jam" error that can be fixed by removing all paper and pressing the resume/cancel button. Then replace the paper in the feed chute.
The printer can straighten out a crooked feed to a very limited degree. The photo feeder attachment can interfere with a really full 8x11 feed. The i860 is very susceptible to overfilling the 8 1/2 x11 feeder without notice until you try to print. I usually remove the photo feeder until I need to print photos, and keep the regular paper feeder no more than 3/4 full. I pull out the regular paper when printing photos.

Paper is feeding unevenly on black & white prints

If the paper is lodged too far into the printer and can't be removed:
  1. Press the power button to turn the printer off.
  2. Pull firmly on the paper to remove it. If you can't reach the paper because it is too far in, raise the front cover and remove the paper from the front of the printer.
  3. Close the front cover.
  4. Press the power button to turn the printer back on.
  5. Resend your document to print.
Ensure that:
  • The paper is a recommended paper for inkjet printers.
  • You do not force the paper down into the printer when you load it. For example, if you are loading letter or A4 size paper, the top edge of the paper should extend above the top of the sheet feeder.
  • The printer is on a flat, level surface.
  • The left paper guide is against the side of the paper.
  • You do not load too much paper in the sheet feeder. Depending on the thickness of your paper, the sheet feeder can hold up to 100 sheets of paper.
  • The left paper guide does not cause the paper to bend in the sheet feeder.
  • Your printer feeds regular paper as expected. If regular paper feeds without causing problems, load the envelopes vertically against the right side of the sheet feeder. Make sure the paper guide is against the side of the envelopes.
  • Envelopes or the appropriate specialty papers are selected in the printer driver.
  • You are using a paper or envelope size supported by your printer.
Important: Your application may not be designed to print envelopes. For help, consult the documentation that accompanied your application.

Won't feed paper while printing

I just obtained a printer with the same problem. When I opened it up I discovered a plastic gear that had cracked and was not turning the main paper roller as it was slipping. It looks like the solution is to replace the roller if you can find one or to repair the gear and epoxy back onto the roller. I am trying the later.

Auto feeds crooked

Are we talking about a paper feed problem from the paper cassette tray or the Auto Document feeder on the top. Either way, check the the paper width guides, or if it is the paper cassette tray, remove it and check the paper pick up roller locking clips.

Printer will not feed paper

Mine did that too.
I found that propping the paper feed cassette up at the end away from the printer worked.
