Hello,

If your television blinks 5 times or for a count of times, it simply is indicating that there is a problem inside the unit.

The problem applying to this situation is a faulty lamp. The lamp is bad and simply need to be replaced.

As soon as you replace the lamp, the television will be in good condition once again.

    This is a problem Sony are aware of. My set is 3 years old when the backlight failed red light blinking 5 times. Without any questions Sony replaced the whole front panel at their cost. The lamp cannot be replaced by the user it must be done by a tech in a dust proof environment.
