You need to evacuate the refrigerant urgent to get the moisture out of your system. When you insert refrigerant ,"let it pass through a drier before it get into your system refrigerator.Only then you have a moisture free refrigerator. Many refrigerant comes with moisture these days but no technicians use a drier to prevent the moisture to fill into the system. They love to see you come back so they can charge you money again.

CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOU CAN HEAR YOUR EVAPORATOR FAN RUNNING (INSIDE MOTOR). IF IT IS NOT RUNNING ... AND YOUR COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING. THE MOTOR OR DEFROST TEMENATION SWICTH COULD BE DEFECTIVE. IF NOTHING IS RUNNING ... TRY TO LOCATE THE DEFROST TIMER(USUALLY LOCATED WHERE YOUR COLD CONTROLS ARE) YOU SHOULD SEE A SMALL HOLE WHERE YOU CAN MANUALLY TURN THE TIMER WITH A SCREW DRIVER.IT CAN ONLY TURN IN ONE DIRECTION. IF THE MOTOR IS RUNNING. CHECK TO SEE IF COMPRESSOR IN THE BACK IS RUNNING ... IF IT ISNT AND IS "HOT" (BE CAREFULL) SEE IF THE CONDENSER MOTOR NEAR THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING ... IF NOT ... THE COND. MOTOR IS BAD ... THAT MOTOR RUNS IF POWER IS GOING TO THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS. IF COMPRESSOR IS HOT AND NOT RUNNING AND COND. FAN IS RUNNING .... UN PLUG FRIG AND WAIT TILL COMPRESSOR IS COOL TO THE TOUCH. THESE COMPRESSORS HAVE AN INTERNAL T-STAT THAT PROTECTS THE COMPRESSOR IF IT SHORT CYCLES.IT SOMETIMES GETS SO HOT IT DOES TAKE HOURS TO COOL OFF. THERE IS ALSO A DEFROST-TERMINATION SWITCH THAT CAN GO BAD. CONSULT A LICSESED FACTORY CERTIFIED COMPANY TO GIVE YOU A FIXED-PRICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST.

SOURCE: freezer works but fresh food seems warm

If you have frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment you have a defrost problem. When the freezer coil does not defrost the refrigerator does not get air for cooling.

hi If the compressor doesn't run, it is likely that the defrost timer is malfunctioning. This part is located near the compressor. To test the defrost timer:
Step 2: Disconnect the wires from the timer and timer motor. Remove the timer from its brackets by backing out two retaining screws.
Step 3: Test the defrost timer with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Clip one probe of the VOM to each defrost timer -- not motor -- wire, and turn the timer control screw shaft until it clicks. If the defrost timer is functioning, the meter will read zero. If the needle jumps, the defrost timer is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type.
Step 4: Connect the new defrost timer the same way the old one was connected.
To check the defrost timer motor, clip one probe of the VOM to each motor wire, setting the scale to RX100. If the meter reads between about 500 and 3,000 ohms, the motor is functioning properly. If the meter reads higher than 3,000 ohms, the timer motor is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new motor the same way the old one was connected.

Maytag fridge not cooling

If the ref or freezer is too warm and you turn the dial to make it colder the compressor should come on. If the ref or freezer is not cold like you say the compressor should be on all the time. You should hear it, but you can definitely feel it and it should be very warm after a short while.
If the compressor does not get warm unplug the ref with the compressor running and plug it back in immediately. A good compressor should not start up right away.
If it is running and not getting warm and does start right up after unplugging it and plugging it back in it is inefficient and not compressing the freon gas enough and therefore not cooling enough.
The fan in the freezer should be running as should the fan under the refrigerator.
The condenser should be warm and the fan should be blowing[drawing] air across it when the compressor is on.
You don\'t repair compressors and to recharge them correctly is expensive.

I have a 23' free standimg dispensing side by side ref. my ref is not cooling but the freeze part is working

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing?all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air from the freezer and into the fridge side, there are ducts on the bottom left side where the air return sto the freezer,if that's blocked the fridge will get warm, also if the fan is blowing depending on your model you could have a damper,it's in the fridge section up top where the cold air blows into, all it is is a door that opens and closes to let the air in when the fridge section gets warm and then it closes when it's cold enough,if the damper is bad it won't open and let the air in,sometimes it gets stuck in the open position and things start to freeze in the fridge section.if you can't figure it out send the model number and i can see what model you have, open the fridge door, look up on the right side near the ceiling and you should see a tag with the model number.good luck and have a great weekend.also from the bottom up in the freezer, remove the second bin of food and touch the back inside wall of the freezer,if there's frost or like snow on the back inside wall of the freezer you have a defrost problem, let me know what you find.

Kenmore side byside model# 363.9565482 does not cool/freeze after 3 day power outage .lights on & fan runs .tried unplug/replug & cleaning coils still not cooling .How do I fix?

First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it seems
to be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Check cold control (thats where you turn it colder)

Warm refrigerator

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system.
You can manually defrost for a temp fix. Turn it off, take everything out of the freezer, use a hair dryer to warm the back wall. Do this for as long as you can before anything starts to thaw. Put everything back in, turn it on and this should last a couple of days.

Help in North Carolinia

if you look inside the freezer you will see frost on the back panel of the freezer, you ar defrosting manually, the issue is either a defrost heater a defrost therinastat or a defrost timer, the timer is an adaptive defrost timer and is in the fresh food section of the ref, gut feeling is defrost timer but one of the three, a ohm meter will tell you if the heater and the thremastat are good if so the timer is the problem
