I have a 2002 buick rendezvous and the air compressor has locked up and broke the serpentine belt. Is it possible to re-route the belt to bypass the air compressor or buy a smaller belt? Any other options to get it running with out replacing the compressor?

The clutch was freed up and has since locked up breaking the belt.

If you have the ac turned off the clutch on the front of the compressor should disengage. Then the ac pulley will spin freely and you can drive until you save up for a new compressor. You may want to save up they are about 3 to 400 bucks plus installation which is about 300.

Something I have done before which was rather hard to do was to take the clutch apart and remover the parts that bound up on the compressor. That will free up you pulley but don't expect it to be easy to do.

As far as finding a belt you can use the old one if there's anything left of it. talk it and route it around all the pulley except the ac making sure pulleys with groves have the grooved part of the belt and smooth pulleys have the backside of the belt and the mark the belt with something and bring it to an auto parts store and just get one the is about the size that you marked. I've done that before also.

How do I replace a serpentine belt bypassing the air conditioner ... I am not using the air conditioner pulley at all.

Odds are you can't. The ac compressor is mounted in the belt routing so it would need the pulley to keep the belt tight.
You can get a used compressor from a salvage yard and mount it in place of your old part if necessary. It will allow the belt to run even if it has no freon in the system.
There are a few vehicles that a replacement dummy pulley was designed for, but I am not aware of one for your vehicle. Usually if you try to run the belt without the compressor pulley, it will rub against something or not allow the belt to run in the right direction.

I have a 2007 impala lt 3.5l which the ac compressor is locked up and i need to bypass this. what is the best way to route the belt and how long should it be

I don't know of any way to by-pass the A/C compressor or any component in a serpentine belt system; but, you can unplug the compressor clutch (at the nose of the compressor, behind the pulley), then the compressor will not turn and the pulley just acts as an idler.

Changing the serpentine belt with out an air

I had to do that once, but it was on an older vehicle that AC was optional. Probably your best bet would be to see if you can wrap the belt on there, but bypass the AC pump. Then just mark the belt with a white marker to get the length you need. Take it to the parts store and have them measure it with their guide. They should be able to find you one that length. If a Rendezvous came without AC, you could just go in and ask for the belt for one without AC, but I don't think they did.
