Hello bikejocky,

MOST LIKELY you have a "hot surface" element
with a tiny crack in it...
About 25 years ago... I put one of my poor abused
fingers on the element to see if it was at all warm...
In so doing I touched the spot where the crack was...
and it did INDEED have a full 120 volt, 60 cycle AC
current waiting for my FINGER to complete the
circuit... (not a recommended procedure)

My 25 year old RHEEM... finally kicked it.
I keep spares... and bought 2 more when I used
the last

Since these parts are pretty cheap... I get spares
62 22868 93 Rheem 62 22868 93 Hot Surface Ignitor

Take a look... There are two basic configurations

The WISEST APPROACH is to use a "meter"
to verify the "line current" is present (not finger)
and check the "SURFACE" for continuity.

Once you copy the number DIRECTLY from
YOUR OWN part... look it up... internet... eBay
and AMAZON (like Robert Shaw #41-408).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROBERTSHAW-41-408-Hot-surface-ignitor-NORTON-271N-/121727955205?hash=item1c578d3105:m:mJR3I8e9mTI60A-dtmvdVrw

>> It is the plug & mount that is important...!!

(consider that spare you always wanted
(If you get it... you will probably never need it)).

~~

The cycling limit & fan
(never touched a RUUD... (so... I presume)) is to clear accumulated GAS FUMES to avoid any explosive
situations.

I do know RHEEM... (ERGO... I have every confidence)
((RHEEM & RUUD, in my opinion, are design twins)).

does the furnace ignite?? your system may not have been lighting and has gone into ignition lockout count the codes of the led lights then remove panel led diagnostic codes are listed there.
if led codes indicate no problem verify capacitor is good and that mtr is getting 115 volts.

SOURCE: Ruud achiever 90 plus gas furnace not blowing any heat

These new furnaces are trouble. Ive been in the htg trade for 25 yrs. The fan is running because they are now controlled by a timer instead of a temperature control. Rather than sensing a preset temperature and turning on the fan, it comes on by a preset time. Couple of things, does either of the doors have an inspection window? most newer furnaces have what is called a smart board. The board will flash a trouble code. ie: 1 long 2 short etc. #1 turn your thermostat to off, youll need 2 people for this! Go to the furnace, If it has the above mentioned inspection window ( usually about 2" round) while peering through the window have someone turn the thermostat to about 80 degrees. Let the furnace cycle and see if it flashes a code. If it does the codes are usually on the bottom door, May be on the inside. The most common cause is either a bad transformer, bad hot surface ignitor or pressure switch failure. Further questions feel free to ask. Steve

SOURCE: i have a Ruud Achiever 90 plus furnace that will not ignite

coming from the induced draft motor is an orange or gray rubber tube leading to a switch pull the end off that is connected to motor and poke a wire or something to insure the hole is not blocked if it is not replace the hose. next step is to check the switch make sure if possible try to jumper 2 wires and turn unit back on if it works then either switch is bad or vent piping is blocked.. For your extreme Safety, Please Do Use Furnace in this condition until problem is fixed. thanks glad i could help

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace-water leaks from the drain pipe

This furnace should condense, as long as it goes into the drain. If it is leaking inside the furnace, there may be a seal that needs replacing in either the pvc drain pipe or concentric drain trap needs resealed.

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace will not start with door on.

I would try to check your return air first, making sure there is no blockage and that your air filters are clean. It almost sounds like when you take the cover off, you are pulling enough air into the system for it to run, but as soon as you close it off, it's not getting enough air flow, therefore, tripping a limit switch inside the furnace. Most furnaces will also have the codes for the flashing lights and what they mean on the inside of the door covers.

My Ruud Achiever 90 Plus not blowing cooled air

Look on the condensor, (outdoor unit) at the very bottom of the rear panel and you should find a red reset button. push it. If that does not solve the problem, and the outdoor unit is running (make sure both the fan AND the compressor are running) then you are looking at a low refridgerant issue and possibly dirty coils.

In that case, clean the coils and have refridgerant added.

Ruud achiever 90 plus gas furnace not turning on

Remove and clean the drain trap and make sure the drain tubes are clear.
It sounds like the water may be building up in your drain lines.
Hope this helps.
