Hi,

You can only use your TV for viewing internet from your computer by using the TV as a PC monitor. To do this you should connect your computer to your TV using a standard VGA cable - the same as you would use to connect your computer to any other external monitor. You should note that this cable doesn't carry a sound signal so you can't use the TV speakers for sound output.

However, you can connect an HDMI cable from your computer to your TV to play media files or DVDs. This cable does carry a sound signal so you will be able to use your TV speakers here. This cable cannot be used for turning your TV into a PC monitor.

And all of above shouldn't be confused with "Internet TV". This is something totally different and requires your TV to be connected directly to the internet.

Hope this helps.

How do I convert a Westinghouse 22" LCM-22w3 DVI/VGA LCD Monitor into an HDTV?

Dear Amy,

Normally, monitors do not have tuning electronics for capturing TV signals.
Therefore, consider the monitor as a "dumb" unit that only displays information coming from your computer. Also, this unit does not have a HDMI input, but only VGA.
So, you are fated to have this monitor connected to your computer, always.
Now, you may find good software that will "tune" the TV signals from streaming at the Internet and show whatever is being broadcast. The same way you can access YouTube and watch videos these TV tuners will get the streaming signals the TV stations send via Internet (not all do that) and watch the channel in your PC/monitor
Since I do not have additional information about the computer you use I cannot give you other ideas
I hope I have helped you.

"invalid input" for hdmi

This model TV has specs for DVI, VGA, component video and S-video inputs. Are you using a DVI-HDMI cable? In that case, check your cable specs. DVI-I and DVI-D (single link and dual link) are not interchangeable and I would guess you have the wrong one connected to the HDMI for your unit.

I hope this helps.

Activating HD mode

You do not activate or set the TV resolution at the TV, the signal feeding the TV has to be hi-def for the TV to show HI-DEF. TV will show what is being fed with, lo-def in = lo-def display.

Non-HDMI Tivo connection

The solution I use is S-Video from cable box to TIVO, and from TIVO to TV. That gets you the highest quality signal that the TIVO can handle. To watch true HD signal, switch TV from S-Video input to Hi-Def input and tune to HD channel. I have an HD cable box connected to both outputs, your situation may be different.

Feel free to ask for more help.
