I can understand the concern and wanting the remote to work the TV Menus. It is possible with our remotes, however it depends on the TV itself. I've seen instances where there are 2 TV's in one house, and 1 will do it, while the other won't.

If you have tried all of the remote codes, and none work, the only other options we have available are to try a powr scan, or teach the remote. This link http://www.mydish.com/support/teach-learning-remote-20-21 can provide the steps on how to teach that model of remote control!

The first step in using the Universal Remote Control that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume level of your receiver, tuner, or stereo is to program the remote to control your audio device using the AUX mode button.

Once your remote controls your audio device in AUX mode, you probably want to continue to control the volume of your stereo even if the remote is in SAT, TV or VCR mode.

To setup your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the AUX button until all the mode buttons are lit, and then let it go.
  2. Press the POUND (#) button.
  3. Press the PLUS side of the VOLUME button.
  4. Press 0.
  5. Press the POUND (#) button. The AUX button flashes three times to tell you the programming is complete.
  6. Confirm the VOLUME buttons are operating the tuner/amplifier's volume control by pressing SAT or TV, and then adjusting the volume. Your tuner/amplifier's volume should change rather than your TV's volume.

Your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote is now setup to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in

In order to program the remote to a TV set, hold the clear "TV" button in the upper left hand corner four four seconds or until all four of the mode buttons light. If the VCR button lights up when you press the Power button, you are not in the correct mode to operate the TV. If the remote is programmed correctly, when you are in SAT mode, you can press the large RED button to turn your receiver off/on. The RED TV button will turn your TV off/on. I have provided links to program your remote to your TV again. I have also provided codes for your Sanyo TV.

Sanyo DS32224 tv remote
It sounds as if you have inadvertently selected the 'Aux' function. Pressing the 'TV' button (should be close to the Aux and others) should restore full control.
Since the volume generally means 'TV Volume,' this function often stays effective but the other controls will not respond, including 'Power.'

This happens to us all the time with our Dish remote which also has 4 basic functions.
