SOURCE: bar oiler not working
Talked to a friend woodcutter & he advised me to replace the worm gear behind the clutch. I found the part at Sears,($10) Replaced it & the saw is working fine again. PS to get the clutch off remove the spark plug & incert a piece of rope. That binds the engin so the clutch is easily removed. CB
SOURCE: chain oiler replacement
If it is Stihl 025 the chain oiler is on the bottom.First check if the worm gear(under the starter)is in good condition.Replace the starter(blocking the piston in the cilinder with a rope with many nods, that rope entering in the sparkplug hole). On the handle there are 4 screws on the right side (under 4 black plastic plugs,at the bottom 2 screws.)CUnlock them and take off the handle. At the bottom you can see the chain oiler( under the hose) the mark for right possition is there.Take off the oiler using a screw(lock clockwise into the oiler)and then pull it out.Clean with compressed air the oil hole.Put back together .Succes!

SOURCE: chain oiler
Saw dust has clogged the passage way in the bar. take the bar and chain off and clean the groove where the chain runs, also near where the bar mounts to the saw there are holes in the groove that intersect with cross holes in the center of the bar, push a paperclip through top and bottom.
If this works for you please leave a rating, thanks

This isn't an easy repair. You'll need to take off the pto clutch and that might not be easy. The oiler is behind the clutch. There is a drive gear behind the clutch that drives the oiler. You should check to make sure oil is getting from the reservoir to the pump. That is easiest to do with the pump off the saw. If you take it to your local Stihl dealer, unless the pump is shot, this is not a complicated or expensive repair.
