The picture gets lines across and at the same time the voice stops and then tries to catch up. I thought it was only the hd channels but now is happening on the regular station. Hard to explain but the picture seems to stop and then start a few seconds later.

Ok you have a bad electroni tuner. You will have to buy this new unless you know of another broke down set like yours that you can snatch one from. The company will sale you the whole motherboard. This will be your best option and yes it will fix your problem.

On Sony's site there appears to be a system software update that we may need. After checking their initial instructions as to determine if we need an update, it appears we do. Think we will try this first before playing around with the tuner. Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. Will keep it in mind.

I have a 32A14 Toshiba TV. At full screen, the

you have to take in affect on how old is the tv if you have had it a few years then the screen is going out and will only be a matter of time before it goes all the way out and you will be buying a new one if it not old and its one of the newer flat panels then its the signal that the tv is receiving if its hooked to a digital antena then you only get max of 720 from it on certain channels no matter if the channel or channels are showing hd with out a hd source your tv will not show better then that i have a 42 inch hd flat panel and use a antena and the best i get from my hd broadcast channels certain times will i get true hd like when the news is showing or when one of the series that was filmed in hd is on other then that i only get a 720 picture instead of a 1080 most commercals are not film in 1080 but in 720 max and i dont know why makes no since

Sound

I do not have a Zenith B25A02Z TV. What I do have is a 1988 Zenith Color TV SE2517P. I called a local tv repairman and discussed the problem over the phone. He can take a look at it if we bring it in (service call to the home cost $100 just to show up). He said it was worth fixing since he thought it was only the sound. We have a great picture. He charges $20 to look at it but we have to leave it. He lives 20 minutes away one way. We think it is worth the trip if we can get it loaded into our minivan. We live in western NY where the weather can get pretty ugly many days. I will post the solution later when I know. FYI

Screen blacks out on HD channels

Saying that the problem is with your TV doesn't make any sense since your TV is fed from the cable box.  Your TV doesn't know one channel from the next.  If it had a problem it would effect all channels.  You may not have enough signal to the INPUT of your cable box due to a problem on the pole or at your house or both.  Insufficient signal can cause some digital channels to not get decoded properly by the cable box.  The lower channels will show noise symptoms such as what you describe but they won't crap out altogether like the digital ones.  Have a cable tech come out and measure the signals.

Do you have splitters in line with the cable anywhere?  If there's any way to beef up the amount of signal getting to the cable box try it.
