Clothes take too long to dry

I have an electric clothes dryer that is about 5 years old. The dryer vents through an outside wall and I can feel a good amount of air movement when the dryer is on. The problem is that the clothes take too long to dry and there is condensation inside the door after the clothes should already be dry.

You definitely have an air flow issue. Let's do some tests to see if we can pinpoint the cause. Step 1: Remove any clothes and the lint filter.Inspect blower housing inlet below the filter to see if there are any restrictions or obstructions. If OK, proceed to >Step 2: Replace lint filter only and remove the vent to the outside from the rear of the dryer. Put an old nylon stocking over the vent coming out of the dryer, and do a load of clothes. If dryer works fine, your vent to the outside is at fault and needs to be corrected. If not certain, proceed to>Step3: Remove the nylon stocking. With the dryer set on air fluff, do an air flow test comparison with and without the filter in place. I use a Kleenex and gently stretch it across/over the dryer vent tube, Have someone turn the dryer on and see if it is strong enough to rip the Kleenex. If no filter in and Kleenex rips and with filter in doesn't, then your filter is at fault This may not be definitive enough to evaluate for certain, and only needs to be done after the nylon test fails. After performing these tests, let me know if my advice helped resolve this issue by rating my answer.

Check the inside vent duct on the machine and also the external duct all the way to the outside wall. I'm sure you will find lint buildup that is hampering the dry cycle.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

Clean your dryer vents, and lint filters. You may need to clean vent from wall to outside. to test this.. unhook vent pipe from wall..and run dryer and see what happens. If the problem does not inprove, you may have a defective heat coils

My clothes come out wet after running for a length of time but they are hot

You have an vent issue..If the clothes are hot but not drying your not getting proper air circulation, you need airflow thru the unit to help remove the moisture from the clothing other wise you end up with warm moist clothing... Start unit and go outside to where the dryer vent comes thru the wall and check the airflow with your hand ,you should feel a good flow of warm air. If not some where between the unit and the vent their is a restriction either in the flex duct or the duct work in the wall which will need cleaned out before the clothes will dry in a normal time frame..Plus it cost a lot to run the dryer 2 or 3 cycles to dry clothes Hope this helps Good Luck

Dryer does not get hot enough to dry clothes Roper REX4634KQ1 Electric Dryer

The vent may be stopped up, or the vent hose crimped so the air cannot escape, you can check the air flow at the vent on the outside of the house while the dryer is running.
try cleaning the vent and the lint screen with a vacuum cleaner, you may need to replace the vent hose, this should solve the problem

Dryer gets hot but wont dry clothes

Do you know if the dryer vent is free of obstructions?Check outside where the dryer vents outside ,and see if the air is weak or flowing freely. If it is not clogged the air should be pretty strong from the vent outside. If it has blockage it will definitly take longer to dry your clothes.

I think The dryer takes very long time to dry clothes

Hello,

Very common problem. You need to call a
duct cleaning company and tell them to clean
your dryer vent. Rule-of-thumb: dryer vents
should be cleaned every couple of years to
prevent them from being clogged with lint and
causing lint fires. This is definitely your problem.
Good luck :)

p.s. one way to verify a clogged vent is
to go outside where the vent exits the house
and feel the air-flow. should have adequate air-flow.

Dryer not drying clothes

Make sure that the flex hose going out from the dryer is not blocked. You should check it from both the back of the dryer and all the way to wear it vents outside. It could also be the thermostat, which is cheaper to replace than buying a new dryer.
