When I send a print request to the printer, I send the total quantity, however the LCD display shows 1 of 1. Is there a setting to change the display to only give the total number sent as one print job?

from the key board there is FAX switch select it.
To send a fax load the document face upward, if ADF is used or face downward at platen glass, press SPK or OHD or phone as marked on the key board get the audible dial tone, dial the required fax no. get the fax tone press START. If the display shows sending then alright. If display show !-SENDING,2-RECEIVING, then press the corresponding digit.

The "Tractor 1 Tear" message is not a error as such, this is an information message showing the printer is set to the front tractor feed (tractor 1) if you press the button directly under "Tear" the printer should move the paper to the tear possition.

If the pritner is not printing I would recomend checking the following;

1. Ensure the printer is set to "ONLINE" press the button you should see ONLINE TRACTOR 1 TEAR on the display
2. Ensure the printer is loaded with paper, press the button under "Tear" the printer should move the paper forward if it is loaded into Tractor 1.
3. If you are not using Tractor 1, ensure you select the paper path you are using within the menu and move the paper selection lever.
4. Observer the LCD display for any errors that may be seen when print jobs are sent.
5. Try printing a menu print on the printer this will identify if the printer will print, the menu can be printed in the following way.
   -Power the printer ON holding down the button, keep the setup button held down whilst the printer initializes.
   -When the printer has finished initializing ensure the printer is OFFLINE
   -Press and release the button to enter the MENU
   -Press the button under "MENU" on the LCD display
   -Press the button under "PRINT" on the LCD display
   
   The printer should print a menu settings page, if this prints OK the most likely causes for the problem are;

1. The computer system is not sending jobs to the printer (check the correct printer is selected on the computer system)
2. Connectivity problem (check cabling, IP Addresses etc)
3. The wrong printer driver is being used

You can select how the printer pulls paper from the trays.

Understanding tray order

When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper

type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an "autoselect" process, it searches

all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending

with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/

size.

Note The "autoselect" process occurs only if no specific tray is requested for the job. If a specific tray

is requested, the job prints from the requested tray.

If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY and TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY on the

Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first. See "Customizing

tray 1 operation" on page 47 for more information.

If the search fails, a message appears on the printer control panel display requesting that

you load the correct paper type/size. You can load that paper type/size, or you can override

the request by selecting a different type/size at the printer control panel.

If a tray runs out of paper during a print job, the printer automatically switches to any tray that

contains the same paper type/size.

The autoselect process changes somewhat if you customize tray 1 operation (as explained in

"Customizing tray 1 operation" on page 47) or set tray 1 for manual feed (as explained in
"Manually feeding paper from tray 1" on page 49). See if this works. Good luck !

Hello joe,hope you are well.Canon copiers have literally hundreds of "meters " that the device is constantly monitoring.Things like the number of 11x17 scans,reports printed,incoming faxes,outgoing faxes,prints at 600 dpi....etc.Its wild.The device is capable of displaying to the customer a total of six meters.The displayed meters may be customized for the customer by a technician as per the customers request or needs.Each meter is named by a number,for example "101".That particular meter indicates the total of how many sheets of paper(regardless of size) that have successfully exited the machine.102 meter indicates the total number of sheets that have been output using 8.5 X 11' as the basis.So a sheet of 11x17 paper would increment the 101 meter once,but the 102 meter would "click" twice.For billing purposes my company keeps an eye on the 102 meter to maximize profit,as it should be.Now how Canon determined the display of the other meters you see is a mystery.Again there is a meter named 958,which is the number of documents scanned to the MAILBOX. So, to completely answer your question: 108 is the total black and white copies made regardless of size.230 is just color and monocolor regardless of size.321 is{your gonna love this one}color prints on 11x17.322 is color prints on 8.5x11.So there ya' go! I may need a little more information.

If you are using a 3rd part software application like that from Loftware, you may need to create your labels in such a manner that the print module prints strips of labels, and in the quantity that you need. Then the printer should produce the quantity each time you go to print.

If you are using a 3rd party driver, like that from Seagull Scientific, then you need to tell it to print that quantity, just like you would when printing something on your inkjet printer.

If you are sending the printer's native language directly to the printer, there is something called the format header. It looks something like this:

{B,1,N,1|

The second 1, is the quantity of labels. So if you want it to print 5, you need to change it to something like...

{B,1,N,5|

If neither of these make sense, please provide some additional details so that I may provide further assistance.

It will flash F24 then 3 increments then 3 more.. eg; F24>063>123

It means you have done 063123 copies/prints..

I don't know if this will help but I have had similar problems. I would notice that one or two particular programs would print more than one copy and others were just fine. Try checking the preferences on the actual programs. Some programs retain their last qty request and don't change unless you change it. For instance, you request a program to give you two copies of a particular document and everything works fine. Then a day later you are in the same program and need only one copy of a document and you get two instead. This is because there is something set in the program or the preferences of your printing device that causes it to retain the last requested quantity for printing. Next time you print check the print dialog box and see how many copies it is showing will be printed. Hope this helps.

The fact that the Data message is displayed, means it is 'seeing' something. You may be losing the command character at the beginning that would cause the machine to ignore the rest of your code. If this is the first time you have attempted to use the serial port, you may have a setting incorrectly set. You need to match your Host exactly or the data may be framed incorrectly. The old standard was to send your data 8 bits, 1 stop-bit and no parity. Try Xon-Xoff with hardware handshaking too. I hope this helps.
