I purchased the camera a month or so ago. first time I used it underwater (for only a few minutes and not on the surface of the water) it turned off and will not come back on. I opened the battery area and let it dry, followed all the directions and it still wont power on - i tried a different battery - no difference. looks like it might not be waterproof at all. Suzie

If this were my camera, I would contact the techs at Panasonic for advice. I would want to take full advantage of the warranty.

Kodak playfull will not turn on

probably the camcorder wasn't meant to be underwater or a underwater camcorder can only function properly during a certain depth you go in the water.. but if you go over the limit of the depth you went underwater it would shut down and not come back to function properly.

My mother got A3100 for Christmas. Used it for about two months with no damage. She was using it a few months ago and turned it off. No problems. Turned it back on a few minutes later and only thing...

Stuck shutter problem. If you purchased it Christmas, it's still under warranty. Call 1-800-OK-CANON for free warranty repair of this issue. For others reading this with a similar problem, but no chance of warranty repair, see this link for simple troubleshooting steps that might help.

Hello My name is Diego. I recently purchased the

Unfortunately the pressure of water from any running water source, especially a waterfall, can easily exceed the specification of the camera waterproofing. It's for that exact reason that the camera instructions tell you that if the camera ever needs rinsing it must be done in a bucket and not under a running tap (US=faucet). Admittedly they do normally survive such mishandling but you only need to be unlucky once.

Once water gets into your camera, it's game over, sorry. Too many internal components will be irreparably damaged and it's cheaper to buy a new camera. The warranty will not apply to your broken camera as it was misused, even if it was by mistake.

I suggest that you complain in writing to Olympus describing exactly what happened and pointing out that you have been loyal to them in the past, requesting a free goodwill repair as the manual does not make it clear enough that you must not take the camera under running water. It will also help if you point out that if you must buy another camera then you will switch to a different brand instead. Your chances of success are slim but it's definitely worth trying as it's amazing how persuasive a well-written and polite letter of complaint can be.

Good luck, and sorry that there isn't a more positive answer for you.

I've had this camera for over a year, an lately when i take into the water the screen will turn black, it will turn on and take one or two pictures but i cannot see them. Today however it did that, but...

Are you taking it more than 10 feet underwater? It is only waterproof up to 10 feet underwater. It is also possible that there is a crack or hole somewhere in the case; a hairline crack could leak water in there. Let it sit a day without the battery and try again. If it still won't turn on, then it's probably shot. If it is still under warranty, Olympus will probably repair or replace it for you. If not, considering that it is probably beyond repair, I would seek out a replacement unit.

Not so waterproof?

Since the camera is billed as waterproof I would send it to an Olympus service center for an evaluation to see if it going to be covered under warranty for repair if I were you. The repair techs will evaluate the camera and let you know if it is indeed repairable.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $107.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Olympus Underwater MJU 795 LEAKS

I have an olympus 770 sw I used to have the same problem... the solution is after using your camera make sure the camera is dry and open the slot for the battery and clean it and do the same for the other slot somtimes youll get small debree in the cracks of your cameras cover for the battery slot thats were the water enters. I use a little bit of vaseline on the rubber pading for the battery cover to lube it out and had no problems sinse.
