Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Even if you have to buy a card reader, it won't cost you any more than a new USB cord.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Lost disk, new computer, how do I download from my JVC GZ-MG130U?

Have you tried the cord from your camera to your computer's usb port? It should be recognized by the computer, allowing you to transfer your videos to a folder. The camera has a built in memory, so you have to use a cord to transfer the movies and pics.

Computer crashed n have no software cd for camera!

Try downloading 'Nikon Transfer' from the Nikon website.

or

If you're connecting camera via usb to a Mac (OS X) the camera memory and any cards mount as a volume you can drag files from.

Format problem

the first thing you should do is get a new USB lead.

while your waiting for your new lead:
1)find out if your laptop crashes with that card, or with any cards/devices.

2)try putting the card into another computer.

3) if you have a compatable printer- put your card in there and try to print your photos.
(if you want them on your laptop- scan them in)

if the other devices or cards work with your laptop- then it might be a dodgy card

if no cards work, or if other devices cause crashes- it might be a problem with you laptop (like a faulty card reader)

if the card works in a different computer- then it might be a problem with your laptop

if the card dosent work in a different computer- it might be a dodgy card.

Unable to download pictures from camera to pc

There are lots of different USB cables, not a real standardized piece. Try the USB that came with the camera or buy one that has your model listed. I have many and they all are specific to their models, some charge but dont sync, while others sync but dont charge, and some just dont do anything.
