My washer is not doing the high speed spin thing at the end of the wash to spin the water out. I tried to just do a drain/spin, the 13 minute cycle and it won't spin either. I may have bumped a button with my elbow? Is that possible? What can I do to get it to spin the water out?

SOURCE: Affinity ATF7000 washer high speed spin not

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old
man who has been making his own repairs for about
50 years. Therefore the washer or dryer ID doesn't
mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a
schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and
discovered that more than 4,700 people were asking
for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer
repair of my own and found an excellent video which
showed me how to take my machine apart. This
video made it possible for me to do my own repair. I
was so impressed with the video that when I saw all
these people needing help, I wanted to tell them
about it. If you have a top loader (washer) of the
direct drive type, this video might be a Godsend for
you. If you look at the back of your washer and the
panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove)
chances are you have a direct drive and this video
is just what you need. You can see this video at
www.acmehowto.com You will probably need
more help in determining what the problem is and
how to fix it. If your repair problem is a washer or
dryer I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com
where they have very good trouble shooting and
repair information on most washers and dryers.
I think you'll find what you need there. Don't worry
about the timer, they hardly ever go bad. Good
luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my
advice on fixya.

GE GFWN1100LWW. Can the high speed spin work on the lower wash cycles?

From my experience, the lower wash cycles are set to only do certain things. For example: the Delicate won't do a high speed spin, even though a high speed spin wouldn't really be destructive to delicates, but would force more water out of them! I usually just run a "Drain/Spin" after the Delicate cycle.

Screen reads UE? what is UE?

UE stands for Unbalance Error. If the washer has tried to spin numerous times, tried to redistribute the load itself between each attempt, and still not been able to get the load up to full speed without experiencing an off balance condition, it will finally stop and display the UE code. This is most often the case when a heavy / bulky item(s) are being washed and the spin speed is set very high. When washing these items, set the spin speed to low. The machine will most likely be able to handle that. If you want them spun out faster, then AFTER the washer has made it through the cycle on low speed spin do this: Turn the power back on. Without selecting any cycle, just press the spin speed button, selecting the next higher spin speed. Now press start, and your washer will just do a 14 minute or so pump and spin.
For super wet heavy loads, if you cannot even get the washer to go through a cycle on the lowest spin speed, you may have to wring a bunch of the water out of the clothes by hand before doing the 14 minute cycle thing.

Water is in the drum after a complete washing cycle, you can't see the water but you can here it slushing around and leaves a foul order when not used for several days.

Make sure that the outlet hose is not blocked and the filter is clear.

If this is OK then the following from Maytag may be helpful. If not call a repair man for service.

Is the Delicate or Hand Wash cycle selected?
Spin speeds can vary by the cycle that is selected. Your washer is designed so that in certain cycles, such as the Delicate or Hand Wash cycles, the spin speeds are slower. In these cycles, more water is retained in the load at the end of the cycle to protect the delicate fabrics from shrinking and wrinkling. Select the appropriate cycle based on the fabric being washed.
Was Max Extract selected?
Ideal for heavy loads such as towels and bedding, Max Extract removes more water from loads during spin.

Were you washing one bulky item, such as a rug or large blanket?
Consider adding more items to help balance the load during spin. Select Drain/Spin or Spin Only cycle and restart the washer. Your washer is designed to detect an unbalanced load and automatically lower the spin speed. Unbalanced conditions are more likely to occur with a single, bulky item.
Are excessive suds present?
Use only HE High Efficiency detergent. Using non-HE detergent or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can cause the washer to run at a reduced spin speed, which will result in very wet loads.

Is the drain hose kinked or is the drain clogged?
Make sure the drain hose is not kinked. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form or hose retainer on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose. See the Installation Instructions for details.

Is the end of the drain hose more than 96" (244 cm) above the floor?
The drainpipe (standpipe) height requirements are: 96" (244 cm) maximum and 30" (76.2 cm) minimum. Your washer will not be able to adequately pump the water out of the washer if the drainpipe (standpipe) exceeds 96" (244 cm). In this case, the water may flow back into the washer. See the Installation Instructions for details; find them by entering your model number in the Manuals and Literature search below.

GE Front Loader Won't complete cycle

My GE Front Loader is 18M old and it has been progressively getting worse, not spinning the water out......I should have known the Pump had a cleanable strainer as Solution #1 says. Pulled a fist size chunk of wet lint, coins, a necklace and wrappers from the Strainer, not to mention about 2 Gal of dingy, soapy water. Tried a Drain/Spin and after a couple of minutes, went to High Speed Spin for the 1st time in about 3 months. Obviously there is a Water Sensor on the Drain Line somewhere that if the Drain Line still has water in it, it does not allow washer to go into Med/High Spin Mode.
