Remeasure the pool cleaners hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for the pool shape. With the Polaris operating, check that the swivels in the hose and the hose connections turn freely. Make sure feed hose is floating. With the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. All wheels should turn together.
Work swivels or replace
I had this problem, especially in winter. The winter problem was fixed with the application of a new swivel at the right point - watch the line when it gets looped and see where the extra rotation would help - and adjusting the floats to help support the swivel.
The summer tangle was fixed by assuring maximum pressure and nozzle direction. The plastic pressure jet assembly had a crack at the base where the directional jet adjusts, reducing power to the unit. In all cases, I have found a 10 to 2 o'clock position on the directional jet to provide maximum downforce to pull the pressure line along and keep the vacuum close to the plaster surface. The tighter the unit is to the plaster, the better it pulls the line.
Check the internal hoses for leaks, tightness, make sure your wheel rotation speed is correct and adjust the pressure valve accordingly. Make sure the wheels have some play and do not bind with the gears. I found no benefit to driving the rear wheel, so I disengaged the idler. Always run with pool filter for a boost in power and filtration. Keep the sweeper movement to a "lazy" minimum to maximize pressure to the directional and pressure jets.
In all, when all else fails, add a union in the right location and adjust floats until the twisting is focused on the new union.
Belive it or not... too many swivels add to the problem!
Most people think if I add a swivel here where it begins to coil then tangle, it will fix the problem, but yet the problem remains!!!
The manufacturer recommends this for the proper layout of the hoses; from the wall all the way to the head:
Recap: What you have done is with the 3 pieces of hose is cut it & adjusted it to the correct lengths. The soft hose is as long as the pool is deep. The two White Harder pieces are Exactly Even!! The way it should be!
Now, the Back up valve will be placed on the soft hose about 3-4' away.
Follow this and the hose should not tangle. And...
The advice about storing the hose coiled is not good, ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
Whenever storing, always store in a straight line, otherwise it will retain the memory of the coil.
Good Luck

If you have stored your automatic pool cleaner with the hose coiled, this is probably what is causing the problem. Lay the hose out flat and stretch it slightly. Let it sit in the sun for several hours and it should help to straighten in. You should also not store your cleaner with the hose coiled. If you are talking about your sweep hose getting tangled, you might need to adjust it, lower your RPM, or add sweep hose weights.

If the hose on these pool cleaners is becoming tangled, there are a couple things you will want to check. Remeasure the hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for your pool shape. With the cleaner operating, check that the swivels in the hose and the hose connections turn freely. Make sure the feed hose if floating. Then, with the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. Make sure they are all turning together and adjust if they are not.
