Linksys sd208 reset

The reset button is usually at the back of the router. If you are unable to locate it you can reset it using a web based set-up page. Make sure you connect your router to a PC using wired connection and perform the following steps:
Step 1:
Launch a web browser like Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
In the Address bar, enter "192.168.1.1" as the router's default IP address then press [Enter]. If this doesn't work or if the IP address of your router has been changed, enter it instead.
Step 3:
Enter "admin" in the Password field then leave the User name blank. If you have set up a User name and Password for your Linksys router before, enter your personalized credentials instead.
QUICK TIP: For Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers, you can enter "http://myrouter.local" on the Address bar to access its web-based setup page.
The router's web-based setup page should now appear from here you can reset the router.

I recently got a Mac desktop and my Linksys router disk will not open up. Do I need a router that is made for Macs or is there a way to configure the Linksys?

Hi, You are correct. The CD is not compatible with Mac. What you have to do is Configuring the Router Manually using the Web Based Configuration panel.
How to:
  1. Open your Web Browser
  2. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the Address Bar and hit Enter
  3. If you have changed the address somehow you have to enter that (Router's IP - Default Gateway)
  4. Here is a small guide to Fine your routers IP address in case of that you are unable to access
  5. Enter the user name (default user name is blank- means no user name. Just leave it blank), Default password is admin.
  6. Now you can configure the Router using the Menus.
  7. Make sure that you have Saved your settings before Exit the Web Based Setup.
  8. Make sure that you have changed the Default Password.
  • If you can’t access the router’s web-based setup page, please check the following: cable connections, router’s LEDs, IP address, and connectivity.
  • Connecting Devices Together
  • Ensure that you have an Active Internet Connection and connect the modem to the router’s Internet port and the Mac to any of the four Ethernet ports.
  • Checking the Router’s LEDs
  • After connecting your modem and Mac to the router, check the lights on the front panel of the router.
  • Checking the Router’s IP Address
  • To find a Linksys router’s Local IP address, you have to check the IP settings of the Mac
  • Checking the Mac’s Connectivity with the Router
  • Ensure that the Mac is properly connected to the router.
You can download the Manuals from here to learn how to do Advanced, Customized Configurations.
Note: Please select the appropriate Hardware Version.
Thanks for contacting Fixya! Feel free to ask any questions if you face trouble with the setup. Please rate the answer as well!

Unable to write network settings to device - windows cannot save your network settings to the selected device? Not sure what we have done wrong

Which network settings are you trying to write? In general, try getting Network Magic. It's a free download and trial and can help with some Linksys/Cisco problems.
Also, you may try getting into the firmware itself. Use any web browser and enter the following IP address as your URL: 192.168.1.1. At that point you're directly accessing the settings on the router and should be able to make any changes you need. By the way, this only works if you're connected directly to the router via Ethernet cable.

Router administration access

Hi Neomonkey,

It seems like you have a very big problem. If you are successfully connnected to the wireless router, you can check the the ip address of the router by doing an ipconfig in command prompt, check the default gateway and try to access using IE browser. The next problem is accessing the router when you are prompted to enter the username and password, the default is username: admin password: admin, depending on the model, if it is customized, you will have to reset the router to access it and configure the mac filtering or enable wireless security to deny the person who is taking up your bandwidth. You dont have to access the Paradyne modem to configure everything, if you want to find out if it is running DHCP, you can connect a PC wired(straight UTP cable) with all the network settings at default and check if you can get an ip using ipconfig with the command prompt. The main thing here is to reset your wireless routers to factory defaults(use the button at the back) to re-organize your connection and setup a security for unwanted users.

Inform me if there are other questions or clarifications you need regarding the problem.

Thanks,
Mrvin
