My D17 series 4 power steerings gets hard spots when turning. Won't turn at all with a load while setting still, but will turn when backing or going slowly. It won't let you power into it. It's worse than not having p.s.. I've changed fluid, suction hose, the belt is good and tight, the pump does mone and looks good inside. the pump is sq. and the key for the pulley is good. I'm out off hair ! TIM

SOURCE: What is the correct way to hook up the starter

Well first make sure that the routing coil is clean of debris and dirt. Then you are going to want to oil both sides before assembly. The cellinoid connects the same way an oscillating pendullum does. Just with a bolt! Easy as that on both ends....just be sure to adjust pressure from valve so you don't create a dangerous situation from pressure build up!!........Happy trails!

Why does power steering get harder at lower speeds

if the belt is nice and tight and is spinning around the pulley and fluids are full, then your steering pump is going bad

The power steering quit on my d17. It seemed like one side quit before the other. I already replaced the rack gear. Any suggestions?

D17 POWER STEERING has had spots when moving the wheel. It's not smooth steering at all and with a load you have to front be moving with the wheel turning real slow.I've drained the reservoir and replaced the suction hose.

2005 chrysler 300 steering problem

U have a failed steering rack internal seal, the leakage causes the hard spot, most likely the seal surface is scored allowing fluid to leak by at a certain position of the wheel. Try getting a bottle of LUCAS oil brand power steering sealer and conditioner, it really works. also check and see if the PS fluid is disclored, if it is get a cheap turkey baster and **** out as much fluid as possiable and add clean fluid.
