Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

You should have two types of batteries.
2 CR123A batteries: (lithium)
4 AA batteries (alkaline or nickel-metal hydride)
Never use Nicad batteries. Never use different batteries together. that is for the four AA batteries. They should be the same brand and the same capacity.
The lithium batteries should be the same brand and same date.
Before changing batteries, always switch off the camera.

When you use rechargeable batteries, be sure you did charge them fully, before putting them in the camera.

My camera won't turn on. I put in brand new batteries straight out of the package and i put them in to the camera and it sttill won't work. i hold the power button for about 10 seconds. Not working.

AA batteries can be placed in the camera the wrong way around. They can also cause corrosion of the battery contacts if left in for long periods or run down. I would check these two things before assuming a fault.

dear sir,

this is not a big problem,as for your camera model the battery recommended by olympus is (Battery AA (2) batteries (NiMH recommended)

the problem is,normal aa batteries and aa(nimh)batteries looks same by mere appearance........

kindly ask the shoppe for AA(NiMh) batteries and put in ur cam,it works for sure..........

My Fuji Finepix S5800 tells me my brand new batteries are flat.

It sounds like you have bad batteries. I have had rechargeables that have suddenly done the same thing. I have learned that buying really cheap ones doesn't work out. If you buy a good branded set, I think you will find that they are much better. :)

I put new batteries in and the green light turns on but then it shuts off and deosnt turn back on

Often I have found with modern digital cameras of all brans is that generic batteries no longer have the power to made them run, so even brand new generic batteries will not start the camera.
the solution is you always must buy the expensive brands or invest in a rechargeahle battery system for AA batteries, which mine takes the best. So try that out. I think u will find that money does make a difference
