When I turn the tv on, the green power light comes on and then immediately turns off, (light goes red). No image or anything comes up on the screen. Never had any problems before this. Checked all plugins. Everything hooked to the tv still turns on, so it is only the tv. I have a 50" flat screen that is about 3 years old. We do not leave it on when not in use etc. What could the problem be and how would I go about fixing that?

One important step to see if you are having an internal problem is to perform a power drain.

1. Unplug the product's power cable so that the device is not grounded to the house. Do not simply turn off the power-bar if one is in use.
2. Press and hold in the products power button for 1 minute to release the retained electricity from the capacitors and circuit board. 3. Plug the product back into the wall outlet rather than a power-bar to rule it out of contributing to the problem and turn the device back on.
If this does not work but you are still seeing a LED lit up, there is probably a problem between the TV's power supply and the mainboard and service maybe required.

Unplug power cord- safety first!
open backcover
check powersupply- top center right is p.s.
top left side of powersupply you'll see 5 capacitor 3300uF 10V.
see any pop up on top? replace it All with same rate or 16v is O.K.
do not use temperature rate 75c. Use 105C.
if you know how to solder. you could save $300 at least! Mahalo!

The problem could come from the power supply at the first suspected one. If you have a knowledge of trouble shooting, open the cover then examine if any caps there look poping up. Use your finger touch on the top of caps you will feel it. If not, check all the fuses there then disconnect all the cables from power sup to other boards, except the main board. Check Va and Vs according to the label attached on the back of panel. If the power sup shut down, replace it with a new one. Hope it helps.
