The circuit board, part no. 6871A10055A has what appears to be a blown capacitor on it. Looks a bit like a big blue M&M split open with black smoke film around the split.
I tried to get the part no. through LG authorized dealer near me. He said the part is no longer made.
I tried through an online appliance part seller. (Home Depot Appliance Repair). They just emailed me that the part is no longer available.
I called the LG support number and they said that they can usually get the part from overseas, but they will not talk to me because I am not a dealer.
Please help.
Can anyone identify the part so that I can try and repair this Circuit Board?
Can anyone identify where I might go to purchase a circuit board, either new or used?
Thanks
Steve Finch
You may try to look at RayMing PCB assembly it offers various printed circuit boards, what you like via https://www.raypcb.com/
I would go to circuit city and try to match the capacitor. good luck
Normaly they sell the complete circuit board for these units. If you have a part that is blown out, it is very probable that there are other parts that are damaged as well.
During warranty, they do not normaly fix these boards. They replace the board with a new one.
I would be looking at replacing the complete board. What will most likely happen and I have seen it often, is in this type of case, when a blown part is replaced, it blows again, because the parts that caused the failure must be also changed. I don't think you have the necessary tools, training, and design information about the circuit board to troubleshoot it properly to know the condition of all the other parts involved.
Sometimes there boards are rather expensive. You may find it more feasible to buy a new unit.

Thanks, Jerry.
Since I have not yet been able to find the circuit board, I thought a fix would have no downside, except a bit of time, with a possible upside. However, I fully agree with you that I do not have the training to do it. The prices I have been quoted on the board have been reasonable. However, the "Fine, we have NO bananas" reply is the one that trips me up.
Does anyone have a handle on where to look for one of these units possibly being parted out?
Thanks, again, Jerry.
