Take the back filter off and blow out the dust really well a q_tip may help with the tight spaces that will be a very tedious task check owners manual too

I've seen several like that and found the wire connections corroded off. Easy to fix if that's the case. Make sure the unit is UNplugged before taking it apart.
Hey, if you read the instuction manual : the DON"Ts section-you will see that candles, scent producing products,cause a lot of soot in these cleaners. If you burn scented candles, or use anythind that generates airborne odors, you will need to clean the system more frequently ( every 2-3 days).
I clean mine every week-no matter what.
One of the postings, talked about a : Monthly cleaning that was performed.
You've guessed it. The thing died-arced out.
So, extra odors kill these filters.
there is a micro switch that the metal rim of the filter that must contact in order for the fan to run tha unit to run. a bend or warpage in that metal filter housing will cuase contact problems with that switch causing it not to run
