THE COLOR IS FADING ON MY KP-61V90 TELEVISION AND THE PICTURE IS NOT AS BRIGHT AND COLORFUL AS IT SHOULD BE

Hello ksolovy, i understood your Problem with the Sony KP-53V90 53 in. Rear Projection Television,In fact i encountered already that kind of problem you have it now. Check first the color wheel im sure that the blue section of your color wheel was burned and the blue color turn to dark; That's why you have seen dark picture, Re-place color wheel.

Dull Video...

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Convergence

* Screen Looks 3D, Warped, Distorted, etc
* Colors do not line up
* TV may shut off - and make a chirping sound.

You could unplug it; remove the lower back panel; and dust-off the lenses in the top.

You may need STK chips replaced. This is very common for sony's. Also, check the color tubes "on" for algae growth. You can look in them and see spots on the inside on lenses.

1-451-441-11 for the Red and Green tubes

the convergence chip is written stk392--- for example

try setting your menu;s to adjust the picture settings

concave picture with colors red and green away from each other

try resetting the tv back to factory settings under within the tv's menu setting you should find a setting to reset the tv, most likely all the color and contract settings may have been tunred down,

this may not help but, my sattelite tunner produces this problem sometimes, it goes black and white picture. it will work its self out. useually it does not take that long, if that is the problem..
