I have a ip2600 that has had the waste ink absorber msg come up twice. After trying several recommended fixes involving pressing the Resume key twice then 4 times, etc., I've found the perfect solution. Start by cleaning the waste pads with tweezers, etc.
1. Press Power Off
2. Disconnect Power Cord
3. At SAME TIME, Press & HOLD Power Key while re-connecting Power cord
4. Release the Power button
5. Press the power button again
This will work!

Hello,
try this:

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..

Let me know how it works.

I've tried this several times and it just doesn't work. is there any other sequence that would work? I am unable to visit a service centre as the only 3 and are in Surrey, Luton and Essex and I'm in Cheshire.

SOURCE: how to reset waste ink absorber full ip3300 warning?

I have the same problem, but Jet Tec waste inks. When I first replaced black (pgi 5bk)-don't forget to place the small chip from the original cartridge to replacement; it worked fine. But now, it has a lot of problems because this **** printer from canon only want original inks (and the original are tooooooooo expensive). I'll never bought anything else from canon.

SOURCE: ink absorber full

This is a very common problems with canon printers. They are set for a certain number of prints and they need the ink absorber serviced. Now along with resetting the printer its best to replace the absorber. Here is link to site that has reset instructions.

Absorber is full

Hi ....

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.
