Check to see if the 24vdc disappear when the screen black out, it is always there then you have problem in the backlight inverter board. Did you replace the caps in the 24vdc supply also? I replace the whole set. http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Viewsonic%20N3250W/

Most likely it's the closed captioning has been turned on. From your post I assume you have the remote control and able to access the menus so try to turn off the closed captioning. I'll be notified if you post something new.
that's a picture inside a picture option, and it sounds like the inside picture is set for a blank channel...just go to the menu, and shut off the picture in a picture option..should do the trick..
Unfortunately, my experience with LCDs says that when you see something like this, it usually indicates that the LCD screen is cracked. If you press gently in the area of deformity and it goes clear then returns to black when you remove pressure, it's a tell-tale sign of a cracked screen. Go to e-bay and see if you can get a replacement screen if you're mechanically up to changing it yourself, else an electronics repair shop might be your only hope.
i have the same problem and i have not ever been bale to resolve why it happens
