My Toshiba 50HP16 also is power cycling. I followed the advise from 3 years ago and did not have good power at CP3201. Couldn't determine if the MOSFET was at issue, so I replaced both the scaler and the AV boards. Same problem and it only cost me $200 to find out. Any additional suggestions?
When power is applied the TV tries to power on, but doesn't completely turn on, shuts itself off and then a few seconds later it tries to power itself on again. After replacing the boards that the service manual said should fix the problem, got the same problem. This does not sound like a scaler issue to me. SInce you have already replaced the AV board, there is only one other thing that can cause this problem which is the power supply board. The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Check the fuses on the ysus & zsus boards. Are any fuses on boards open . Disconect power cabels to ysus board first {board on left} . put tv on . if the light is green the ysus board must be replaced.
Display IC seems to have gone. It will be a replaceable module. Only you have to figure out which one it is. Such thing happen in electronics. Look for any burnt or bulged IC.
I bought a Scaler board from someone on eBay but it did not fix the unit however I'm not sure the replacement was not a dud. I planned to send the board to PTS Corp but haven't yet. I have sent other boards to PTS wit good success. http://www.ptscorp.com/tech_support.html
Its kind of hard to mess up replacing a board in a TV, only thing to watch out for is the board can hold a charge after its unplugged even if its not working. Here is the service manual for your set. Toshiba 50HP16 Service Manual
