My Kenmore washer fills with water and then does nothing. Does not go to the next cycle. It stops. How would I know if it is the lid switch that is the problem.

I have a Kenmore 700 series washer and it fills with water then stops. It's NOT my lid switch. I have tried to find someone with the same washer and same problem and can't find nothing. Can someone please...

If you are sure its not the lid switch, then next would be the water level switch. Once the machine fills, it should switch an internal set of contacts to make the washer run. Last and worst case scenario would be a dead motor.

Kenmore washer machine cylce stopped in mid cycle

If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:

  • No power
  • Lid switch

No power
Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch
If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
check these, if still the problem persists then let me know for further help.

Kenmore Washing Machine fills with water then just stops

The symptoms you describe are typical of a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually located on the right hand side under the cabinet. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the right side of the wash tub opening. Make sure the lid strike is still on the lid and intact, first. Then, check the mounting screws that hold the lid switch in place (two screws along the tub rim on the right hand side). Often all that is required is to tighten up the mounting screws and this will realign the lid switch where it can be properly activated by the lid strike. If the lid switch is broken, you can find a replacement at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Top and Cabinet" heading for item number 11 for the lid switch and item number 20 for the lid strike (if needed). If you do not wish to order online, take the part numbers provided by Sears and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. These are common parts that most will carry in their store inventory. The following link explains how to replace the switch:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

This is a very inexpensive repair that you can easily accomplish on your own. I hope you find this information helpful. If you require additional assistance, please let me know.

PS This is a common problem experienced by this line of washing machines. To prevent future failures, do not slam the washer lid or place anything heavy on the lid. Repeatedly slamming the lid to get it to work, or manipulating the timer can also cause more potential problems.

Cycle never finishes.

we have an issue with one of three things
on the sides of the lid the hinges are bolted to the lid with 2 screws on each side
ferify that the secres are tight
if so then you have a lid switch that needs to be replaced or the water pressure switch in the console is bad

Kenmore 22956 top loader quit running after agite cycle

If the timer cycles your lid switch is ok.
most likely: motor Switch (on Motor), condenser next to motor, motor itself, or wiring going from the time to the switch,

It is probably cost efficient to replace the unit rather than trowing parts at it .

70 series Kenmore washer

POWERUP, YOUR WASHER COULD BE THE LID SWITCH OR THE COLD WATER VALVE. AT THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE, THE MOTOR WILL SPIN OUT THE WATER, BUT ONLY IF THE LID SWITCH IS ACTUATED. IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, IT WILL NOT SPIN OUT THE WATER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE FROM THAT POINT.
IF THE WASHER SPINS, THE NEXT STEP IS TO FILL WITH WATER FOR THE RINSE CYCLE. MOST WASHERS USE COLD WATER FOR RINSES. IF THE COLD WATER VALVE IS RESTRICTED OR FAULTY, THE WASHER WON'T FILL. IF THE WASHER WON'T FILL, THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH WON'T ACTIVATE AND THE TIMER WON'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP.
