Usually you would need a watchmakers press for closing the watch back. Without proper tools it is quite difficult, but you can try the following. Take a leather belt and lay it flush on an even, solid surface (stable table will do). Undo the strap (both ends) from watch case by pushing spring bars inwards with pen knife. Lay the watch crystal face down on the leather belt. Belt must be wider than watch itself and the leather must be quite hard and even, not soft. Find the small groove on watch case back and align it very carefully to the watch's winding stem, so, the stem goes directly in the middle in protrusion. Slightly push the case back into the watch case at that groove point and gradually apply pressure with fingers going all way around the case back. Use your body weight if needed. You should hear "click" sound when the case back jumps in to place. If this does not work, there is no other way, but to go and see watchmaker. Hope it will work for you.

What type of battery does an ebel (feman) watch use?

ebel keeps that a secret they have a marking on there batteries mine 690 but there is no such after market replacement with this number. ( ebel wants to be the only game in town/ world ) but if you want to replace it your self, witch will void your warrenty 'says' ebel. take the battery out and take it to a jewelry store, and they can match it up ( $5.00 to $6.00 ) or pay $240.00 to ebel to "service" it. clean / new gaskel / batt witch ebel says is necessary to change batt. every 3 years or so. do not take the watch to the jewelery store only the battery , because know one will open it. they will want to send it out to ebel for service big $ also save old batt, because if you ever have to have the watch fixed put the old batt back in and hopefuly they wont notice. to get the battery out read my instructions i have posted its easy. other posts i have read on replacing batt, they don't know what they are talking about. do NOT remove anything but the bezel only. please Read hope this helps you out.

How do I get the backing off of my guess waterpro steel watch? Model 180166G4

It takes a special tool to remove them, some screw off and others are pressure fitted so it depends witch one you have. They put the backs on like they do so that only jewelers can get in so owners don't get them open and mess something up inside. they are very fragile once you have the back off. Take it to a jewelry store & they will generally help you without it costing an arm and a leg.

I have several old art deco watches that run but the dial faces have yellow spots. Can I do any type of cleaning to fix this safely.

Do not even try to clean. Any physical touch will destroy original colours and laquer. I'd advise to go to your nearest watch repair shop and do the estimate first. Then you will know what the each piece is worth. Only after estimate you can decide witch is the right one to clean. If the estimate is lower than $10 - you can put it in to your washing machine and just laugh about the struggle. Hope the rest of your watches have some value. :))) Rate me, plz.

Oil all over wrist watch - can it be cleaned?

hi, if the watch is water proof witch most watches are, if it is it should tell you something on the back like wr 30m or wr 10m if it says this on the back then this is telling you that the watch is water proof up to 10metres or what ever it says if this is the case then you can put it in the sink with only slightly warm soapy water then just rub it over gently with soft cloth whilst under water.

How ever if it says water resistent then this dont mean its water proof this just means its rain proof but not made for going under water unless it says water resistent to 30m then this can be washed in the sink also if it dont say this then you cant put it in the sink you can only wipe over it with a damp cloth to remove as much oil as possible.

But if you can get it clean and its not water proof then the watch is going to have to be taken apart to clean the outer casing that is only if the oil has not got inside the watch.
Oil wont short the watch out put it can cause problems if you have any buttons on the watch so your best bet would be taking it into a watch shop and get it cleaned that way.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Cannot re-attach back cover - WR30M

Yeah, I had this problem on a Timex Indiglo, but didn't have it on the cheap $20 watches in drug stores and discount stores. Timex puts a tighter cap on the back, probably for quality reasons, and you cannot push it together by your thumb. --This solution should work for about anyone: 1. Put the watch face down on a hard surface, but protect the crystal from scratching by putting a piece of cardboard or cloth between them. 2. Align the back and put a socket from a socket set on it that is somewhat smaller than the back cap. 3. Tap the socket with a hammer. You don't need to tap hard--even less than what would start a small nail. It may take only one tap--getting it aligned right is the key.
