tv looks fine then I get just a line in middle and nothing else

Failue of the vertical section, could be the drive, the power to the section or even some discrete componets. Unless you are familiar with electronics , get some help to ceck out on these circuits, could not be major but to get themain culprit will require good probing.

56 inch panasonic tv has blue yellow lines running up and down on right side

this is pip,,,if you can noy find botton on menu...unplug 5 min....return pkug to wall socket push and hold power botton for 5 seconds....this should fix it!

You should turn the close caption off in the menu this will get ride of that box. If you are seeing double image on the screen that is a different problem though. Let me know what the pic looks like after you turn clsoe caption off.

Black square in the middle could be closed captioning. Light engine is approx. $700 to $1000 for the parts alone. Time consuming job to change - 2 hours - so expect a hefty labor charge as well.

The optical engine is going out.These are not hard to replace. They are very expensive.

I have a Sharp Tv that had the same problem with a large brownish or black square right in the middle of the screen. It only left about an inch around the edges that you
could see the picture moving in behind the big black block or square.I have DISH sat-elite and the book recomending that I check and see if the "caption settings" were on
or off. They were on. I turned the caption settings off and the large square diappeared.

This could be part of the text mode, which has to do with the caption. Check and see if it's turned on.

you have accendly turned on closed caption. the closed caption you have tured on is not the normal closed caption we are used to . it is called colsed caption text. either on your remote or in you manu, find the way to turn off cc & you should work ok. good luck.
