Remove rear cover on the generator and loosen the center bolt a few turns then carefully give the bolt a hard center rap with a large hammer ...you should feel the taper release from the engine crankshaft and then the rest should be easy to see how it comes apart...I looked online and couldn't find a good illustraded parts list for your model so this is the best info I can give.

Engine on generator starts but hunts all the time so i cant check output on generator

Governor hunting is almost always a carburetor issue. Likely air leak (vacuum) between carburetor and engine intake. Make sure carburetor has not come loose. If carb/gasket mounting ok, suggest drain and replace fuel. Drain and clean the carburetor bowl as well.

If still hunting, likely the carburetor has fouled. You can try a fuel treatment e.g.1oz/gal seafoam and see if problem clears otherwise carb clean/rebuild or replace.

I have a colemon 4600 generater only fires if put gas in the cab ureter then it starts but won't keep running any ideas

Likely that this unit sat for a while and developed a bunch of gunk/gum in the carb. Sometimes it can help if you do the following:
Find the idle mixture screw. This is the one on the side of the carb with a spring around it. Carefully not how many turns and Turn it clockwise until it stops. Make a note of this, then counterclockwise turn it until it comes out. Spray a generous amount of Carb cleaner into the hole. wait 10 minutes and repeat.. Put the screw all the way back in, then back it out exactly the number of turns you noted.
Try the engine, if it's still not right, you'll have to rebuild the carb.

Why does troybilt generator engine keeps shutting off when throttle is moved from choke to run position?

Give it a shot of starting fluid. If it runs initially, then most likely the jets on the carbureator are clogged. You should remove the carb and clean/rebuild it.

This is a honda gx160 driving a generator. Engine starts OK but when any load is put onto generator engine splutters then stops. Display says low engine power. Any ideas?

check oil level .low oil causes vacuum in the carb, causing fuel starving .
also check capasator has not blown in generator .

The starter on the 12res Kohler generator just hums (spinning sound). It doesn't engage the flywheel. Do I need a new starter?

OC is over crank failed to start. It will normally try 3 times before giving this error. You need to disconnect the battery and remove the starter motor, make sure it is free to move / spin. Either the starter has seized or the engine has siezed. Make sure the engine is free to rotate also, once you remove the starter you will see the engine flywheel there, removing the spark plugs will make it easier to rotate the engine. I would guess it is more the starter.

5000 carb rebuild

If you are not familiar with removal, and rebuilds, i would strongly suggest you take it to a small engine repair facility. Carbs can be tricky to get seated and adjusted well.

Generator will not start

it could be bad fuel as fuel for small engines is only good for 30 days drain it flush it and try fresh fuel but if left in carb it might need a rebuild

Engine cant run with air filter fitted, I have cleaned it .but the problem remains the same

This means that you are over fueling. There is more fuel going to the carberator than air. By removing the air filter you are allowing more air flow into the carberator, which is allowing the engine to run right. Natural gas and propane generator must have no more than 11 inches of water column. Gasoline engines should have no more than 3.5 psi out of the electric pump. If gasoline is gravity fed, then this means that you need to rebuild the carberator or purchase a new carberator, but try to adjust the flow valve on the bowl of carberator first.
