Dear Dr. Nitin
I think you may be right but I am not sure what you would like me to do.
I used the Windows CD burner and also Toshiba Disc creator. In both the case I selected the files to be copied in the source pane and transferred them to target pane and then started the CD burn. After the process completed successfully I find the burned CD appears as blank
Could be many things, damaged laser, messed up system files, damaged drivers. Or just windows. I suggest reinstalling windows if that doesn't work replace the dvd drive.
One more thing to add, it's alot cheaper to replace the dvd drive inside of the laptop instead of replacing the laser. Replacing the dvd drive isn't so difficult. It seems most likely to be windows. What you could try is system restore.
Run --> msconfig --> System Restore...
Find a date back in the past where the system was working. What you can also do to test to see if it's windows with out loosing your files, partition like 10 gb and install windows xp, boot into the partition windows xp and try to burn a disc. If all works we know it's windows what you can try is reinstall your drivers for the driver or do a system restore or reinstall windows, BACKUP first. If it's windows then you can delete the partition 10gb to get back the 10gb for you to use again. If all was working awhile back and you know the date and all the programs you might of installed since then. Go to Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Find all installed since then and remove them.
