Ds4000 locked, how do I unlock it? - Olympus DS-4000 Digital Voice Recorder

With the handheld off:
1 Power the unit on. It will greet the user.
2 Press the menu key.
3 Press rew to get to sub menu
4 Press rew to get to LOCK and press menu
5 Switch the cursor to OFF and press menu
6 Press Menu at all the exit prompts to return to the main screen

Just turn off write-protect on the card.

Hi Fi Engine is one place. The deck will have a disintegrated cam and might be a waste of time. MOST all Akai heads are worn out at this time and there are no replacements.

I have DS4000 voice recorder, 4.10.4 transcription module and RS26 foot pedal. Worked fine on XP but foot pedal is not responsive on Windows 7

Your windows 7 is probably a 64 bit OS and will require the RS27/RS28 foor pedal.

How to remove the write protection from olympus voice recorder

The DS4000 has a lock option available from the menu. press the menu and scroll untill you find lock. If you did not prposely lock the file, most likely the files on the memory card are corrupt. You will need to reformat the memory. The format option is in the menu as well.

Olympus DS4000 recorder "new file" button broken

This is a classic: the 4-position-slide component (which includes the NEW button) is the weakness of the DS-4000. You need to get this replaced. If you are UK based, contact BES in Luton who will charge you circa GBP70 for the replacement.
