We have a Hoover Windtunnel vac, Model U6432-900, and the brush roll will not turn. The v-belt seems too loose to turn the brushroll. The flat belt seems to be tight and working properly. I replaced the v-belt and the brushroll but it's the same as before. Is there a way to adjust the tension on the burshroll v-belt?

The V belt will stay " loose" until you lower the handle. Try replacing the flat belt and that should work.

SOURCE: Hoover windtunnel Self-propelled - brush roll stops

There is a idler wheel that will drive the V belt, sometimes they jam and you just have to reach in, push and make sure if comes in contact with the belt. Alot of times tho it is the other flat belt, 38528035 that will stretch and can cause you to have problems with the brush roll not turning.

SOURCE: Brush Roll belt won't engage on WindTunnel self-propelled

When you had the brush roll off, did the ends turn freely? If not then the brush won't turn and the belt will just slip. You would have to replace the brush roll if either of the ends are frozen. Other then that you would have to remove the top cover to see if there any broken parts, there is a spring loaded asm, it has a black wheel that will push the V belt when it is in the carpet setting and the handle is in the down position, it could be jammed so the roller is stuck.

SOURCE: brush roller on windtunnel won't spin

It sounds like you need to replace the actuator arm or the cable to it. Look for Hoover part 43143046 for a start. I've got a similar problem.

SOURCE: auto brush on hoover windtunnel doesn't spin anymore

I have a Windtunnel S3765 with the same problem - and it has very little use so I'm confident it isn't wear. I find that the wheels do not raise the agitator brush sufficiently high to reduce the drag caused by excessive contact with the carpet. If I raise the front a bit the brush spins as it should. It also works if I take the housing apart and use it without ..... but this is tricky.

Unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to hold it up efficiently. I am toying with afixing something to the bottom of the housing to raise the front enough to give the brush a little more room.

SOURCE: My Hoover steam vac spin scrub model 4060-900 brushes are not spinning and I have lost the manual. Any ideas. Thanks. [email protected]

To fix mine: I removed the brush assembly, showing that when the machine was powered on, the square of the drive gear was not spinning. I used a flat heat screwdriver and inserted it into the square, then gently worked it back and forth until the turbine was free. Then I squirted household oil down into the hole before replacing the brushes. Has been working fine ever since.

Why does my brush roller stop and heat up belts?

Hi! If you have replaced the belt with a new one and your brush-roll is still not spinning, your brush-roll may need to be replaced. Remove the brushroll and clear it of hair and debris. Spin the end caps with your hand. They should spin easily with no tension. Inspect the area on the brushroll where the belt rests on for damages. To order a replacement brushroll click on this link. Search Results It could also be that the incorrect belt is being used with the vacuum. Make sure you are using genuine Hoover parts when replacing the belt. Belt will not stay on hoover windtunnel s3765

The Hoover Windtunnel™ Self-Propelled models have two belts, a flat belt and the V-Belt. This V-Belt is the one that drives the Brush Roller. After about three months, most belts stretch out causing them to slip. This means the brushroll turns slower or not at all and the self-propelled becomes increasingly harder to push. It is recommended that both belts should be changed at the same time.

Hoover wind tunnel vac

If the belt is getting hot, then it is slipping instead of turning the brush roll. Check thge brush roll, make sure the ends are turning freely. Is the motor running ok? If it is then either the brush roll is bad, need a new belt, or something is catching the belt, not letting it move.

Changing belts

Turn vac over, remove the 4 screws holding the bottom plate covering the brush roll. There are 2 belts, one is a V belt ( 38528034) for the brush roll, the other is a flat belt (38528035) that goes from the larger pulley and the motor shat, put it on the motor shaft then stretch it to go over the pulley.
