I have problem in asus A8V-vm motherboard in that hard disk is not detected in BIOS but Win-XP is working properly and when I tries to install new windows XP it shows an error that hard disk cannot be detected in ur system. So i need patch or any other software to solve my problem.

If you are trying to install Windows XP then -
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Yes, it's compatible with the motherboard, no, it's not compatible with the XP install disk because it doesn't have SATA support. And since Asus doesn't provides it special driver needed (one that must be put on a floppy) it means that you simply cannot install XP on this disk.
All you can do is to obtain another PATA hdd what ever its size and install XP in it. Then put the new SATA disk in and use it to store all the installed programs and all your files on it. As a bonus you won't lose them if the new PATA disk fails or XP gets corrupted.
Or install Vista or 7 instead of XP, the have support for SATA disks

Restart your computer.
Press <DEL> to enter BIOS SETUP.
Look for "Boot" options, and change the "Boot Order" to make the CD/DVD the _first_ boot-device.
Save/Exit from BIOS SETUP.
Boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Go into your bios settings make sure your hard drive is set to IDE and make sure secure boot isnt on. You could just try resetting to default.

Also check your ram. Take out one then the other. This usually happens when Windows loads the files it is about to install into the ram. It takes up a lot of space and could cause faulty ram to overload.

When is your hard drive not recognized?

At boot or in the BIOS?

You might haven connected your hard drive correctly or you'll need to enter bios and select an option for bios to detect your hard drives and save the new configuration.... otherwise there is a serious problem with your hard drive not functioning.

At windows XP?

You might need to enter windows ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS in the CONTROL PANEL and click in COMPUTER MANAGEMENT in there click STORAGE/DISK MANAGEMENT you'll see all your connected hard drives, your new hard drive should be listed there, but may not have a letter assigned/partitioned or formatted. Do so and it will be recognized.

If you're trying to install windows XP?

It's probably because your PC has the new SATA interface hard drives, you need to load a special SATA driver through floppy disk during at the beginning of windows XP setup, for it to find hard drives on your pc. You need to make this floppy disk with files that are available on your motherboard CD, in there are all the instructions you need.

Check the SATA/RAID controller setting. It could have been set to [Disabled] Refer to your user?s manual for a detailed description on how to enable the onboard SATA/RAID controller by adjusting the jumper or BIOS settings. Regards SparkGap
