Hi:
This could be due to faulty Power supply or capacitors on the power supply. Also if you have sound but no picture then you may a bad inverter board not lighting the back lights. Have the PS checked for puffy capacitors n the power supply.
If there is no change when the power power button is pressed then you may have a bad System control boad or as many call it Main board. At this point you have standby voltage to the microprocessor but the system is not turnin on the power supply, I suggest you measure the 3.3 V startup and the 5.0v standby voltage.
I cant say where the 3.3 volt source is since i do not have your schematic diagram, but most voltages are printed on the board itself. check the voltages on the plugs leading from the power supply to the main board.. In order to trouble shoot this down to componet is in parative that you obtain the service manual

Hi,
Unplug the unit for few minutes, say 30 minutes, and then turn it ON. If the problem persists, this is am internal failure and needs repair. It could be an issue with power supply board, vertical circuit , horizontal circuit and many more. If you have electronics repair experience, would be able to read schematics and use multimeter/ soldering iron, could keep all the precautions - revert and i would be glad to provide you few pointers.
Let me know,so that we could proceed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Reseting it does not work, I have it apart, and dont see any bad caps.....nor do i see any burnt areas
ok, i need to clarify....the the green light comes on whenever the TV is plugged in, however there is no change when the power button is pressed, nor is there any sound or anything else......i've checked all the boards for puffy caps(i've changed them before on other tv's). I turned all the lights off to see if i could see anything, and used a flashlight to look into the screen to see if the backlights were not working. I'm stumped!!:)
where do i measure the voltage at, and if i'm not getting that voltage then its the power supply?
Ok, Thank you
