I ordered mine right from Canon 1 800 828 4040, select Order parts. The part numbers for three of the waste pads are: QC1-1654-000 (grey sponge), QA4-0777-000 (long thin pad) QA4-0776-000 (large bottom pad)

Ink colour print problems

Ink that leaks out of the ink-cartridge when the print-heads are "parked" is absorbed into the "reservoir" tank. The tank is full. Get it emptied.

How do you find the waste ink collector on a printer/scanner ?

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.

The waste ink absorption pads are inside the printer, in the very bottom. They are usually soaked with ink when full and are very messy.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you.

Waste ink absorber is full

Hi!
The printer counts every single droplet ejected by the print head due to waste ink absorber capacity. When the waste ink counter rise to about 90 % the printer shows message 'Waste Ink Absorber Near Full'; in this stage we can still continue printing by pressing Resume button until waste ink absorber capacity reach 100% and 'Waste Ink Absorber is Full' appears.
To fix this problem you have to reset waste ink counter to 0%. Even though we can just reset waste ink counter without resetting waste ink counter, it strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber to prevent ink flooding inside the printer.
To reset waste ink counter, perform the following steps:
  • Plug in power cable
  • While pressing Resume button press and hold Power button (do nor release the buttons)
  • Release Resume button (still hold Power button)
  • Press Resume button twice in a row (still hold Power button), after that release both Resume and Power button (then the printer standing bye)
  • Press Resume button 4 times then turn off the printer
In this stage your printer has operated as usual.

Waste tank full

Inkjet pads are between the printer chassis and the bottom of the printer case. Typically a large felt pad.
My Canon i9100 has eight orange flashes and indicates on screen "waste ink tank is full". After opening up mine I found this to be false, only one third soiled. This then leads me to believe the i9100 has a timer to go off after a preset number of hours.

Anyone know how to reset the "full waste ink tank" error?
