I am having a problem with scanning. My HP PSC 1610 will print and copy, however it will not scan. I have installed the driver software and uninstalled many times. Still having an issue. Please help!

Firstly try making a color Copy and see if that works fine.
May i know if there is/are any errors displayed while making a copy.

What OS (including the version) is running on your computer? Is it XP? The drv in the file name indicates that this is the basic HP all-in-one driver. For this, you must launch the scans from your computer. With XP, that means Paint (launch the program, choose File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan)

If you want the full-featured software and to be able to launch the scan from the all-in-one, go to HP and check the specifications for runnng the Full Software. For XP, the PSC 1610 download is here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-30256-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315&sw_lang=&os=228 . The file name is: nn_rub_w01_Americas_Euro1_NB.exe .

In general to select the software drivers, go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315& and select your OS. If a basic driver is available, it will be listed before the full-featured software.

The scan software is called HP Image Zone and can be downloaded from HP's website or installed from your CD

If you are having issues using your PSC 1610 on the Vista operating system there is actually an easy workaround using "paint" (I'm using "SnagIT").

For whatever reason you can't use the actual button on the printer/scanner but when you open paint you can scan the doc from your computer.

HP PSC 1610 won't scan or copy.

Try a sky scan (No paper on glass and lid up) watch the scanner to see if it is smooth or a somepoint jumpy. If not smooth, you will have to open it up and 1 of two things, dirty and needs lubracation, silicone grease is best vasoline will work. OR 2 the drive belt is loose because the spring tensioner is broken or the belt is dammaged. Good luck
