The dryer heats on and off. Sounds to be laboring to turn the drum. Service tech came out and did not know how to fix or approach the problem with why the dryer heats and dries a load and then may not on the next load. Is the heating element going bad?

Sounds like a rear bearing . remove the 2 screws from the top when you open the door . this way you can take the top off . When you take the top off remove the screws on the inner left and right on the front panel. disconnect the belt from the pulley and motor and pull the drum out . then you will see the rear bearing . cheap fix but can be a pain. good luck

sounds like you have a heater that is shorted to ground which will cause the unit continouoly heat but will not allow unit to start, in addition you may have a bad push to start switch or bad mtr centrifical switch. Best advice is to unplug until a tech can look at it or by a new one

there is a chance that the motor contacts have been corroded,depends on the age of the machine.and if there is a control board in the lower half of the dryer it could be as much as three hundred to fix it especially if you have a service tech come out and look at it if the unit is not under warranty.

You need a heating element replaced. It is not hard to fix, the heating element should only cost you about $20.00 and for the labor it might cost you $45.00 for the repair man to fix it. A total of about$65.00 maybe even less.

The first thing to check would be the power, I know that sounds silly since the drum turns but your electric dryer uses 240 volts to heat and only 120 to run the drum. Check the circuit breaker or fuse by turning it off completely then back on.

If that does not fix the problem you have one of two components that have failed. Either the thermal cutoff or the heating element. The cut off is a small two wire heat sensing switch located just above the heat element. They are both accessible from the back

Your model which we call the 417, is not usually easy to work on. The heating element is located behind the dryer drum. The drum has to be removed to change the element. There is a lot involved but given the cost of a stack unit the element and labor may be worth it.

Sounds like a broken belt.
replace the belt for the fix.

Check the gas valve in the back of the unit and also check the Glow ignitor to make sure that you are igniting the gas to heat the drum. Sounds more like it is the Glow ignitor that is bad

Sounds like the belt has broken or come off. This is usually inexpensive to fix. You just need to get it out in the open to replace.
