First check Pico Fuse 05 they look like resistors but will be Green or Yellow and Check Q777 which is Transistor.
Another thing that can cause this is the STK ICs if everything is on pc05 and Q777 then replace both STK ICs they are big black ICs and will have PN# on them STK392-110s
Mats Electronics has them 1-800-628-1118 also CK RK42 3.3ohm resistor, RK46 1.5 ohm resistor they are near the STK ICs.
we are having problems with website and I am not getting your reply in my messeages.
Ok this is Normal for Hitachi for STKs to go bad and will shut TV down. these ICs are Covergence and startup for high voltage you need to replace Both ICs.
ok email still not working
Still not getting your replys by email
Look near the FBT flyback Transfomer. But I think you will fine problem in STK ICs

LEDs lit in the back? Do you mean CRTs?
CRT means Cathode Ray tube. The three tubes at the back that project image onto the screen and hence the name CRT rear projection tv. Are these the the ones you meant by "3 LEDs at the back"?
Ok. When the red LED comes on, does it blink or does it stay solid red? If it blinks then how many times does it blink in between each pause. I have a feeling that this is a power supply issue, but just need to confirm.
If it just stays on and does not blink it is definitely a problem in the power supply circuit. I would start by looking for shorted components in the same. How good are your electronics/soldering skills?
Ok. In that case ask them to run a continuity test on all the power supply components(other than capacitors, transformers and coils) and see if any of them are shorted. Let me know what you found.

Hi,
When you turn it on, does the red light sort of pulsate on and off?
Do you hear any odd sounds (a squeal, perhaps, as the red light flashes) coming from inside the set?
How old the unit is?
Let me know,so that we could proceed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Thanks for your response!!
This is an internal failure and needs repair. Unfortunately, there is no reset for the same other than getting it repaired. There are few probabilities that you need to inspect. The Hitachi TV are known for having problems with cold solder joints,
resistors and capacitors in the power supply circuitry of the TV. The TV
has protective circuitry that when it detects a problem with the
electronics of the TV will shut at down and will not allow it to be
turned back on, until the problem is corrected. This is not a DIY
project since it requires testing the circuitry and soldering in the
replacement parts. One part can often cause another part to become
defective. Not replacing all the defective parts will result failure
very soon. This is not a cheap repair. Most rear projection TV repairs
will be in the $400 ballpark for cost. Most rear projection TV sets have
early failure of parts due to heat buildup.Other than the power board, it could be a bad ballast.
Could be a bad connection , make sure the lamp is all the way in and all wires tight
could be a bad solder connection on the ballast printed board , may be worth a look at its belly.
If you wish to repair it yourself, revert and i could provide few pointers. However, in these cases, it is advisable to call a tech as we could get a refund of a part which might not solve the problem. However, you being an home owner, would not able to replace the part if that does not solve the purpose.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.

Its an 02. No pulsation, the light comes on and stays on untill I turn it off. The only sounds I hear are standard strartup sounds, no buzzing.
I have replaced the IC's on a Phillips 47" before, would bad IC's or resistors cause the same prob? About 6 mo. ago someone on here had the same prob. I cant seem to find the conclusion. Can you check that for me? Thx.
could the bulb be bad, and where would that be located?
r u still there or r u off today?
I have no picture or sound. the red power light comes on and stays on until I turn it off. All the green leds are on in the back (1 red and 5 green). The only noise I hear is your standard strartup noises. I have replaced IC's before on another tv, could this cause those cause this prob also? What about pip fuses? Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
sorry bout not replying sooner, I dont know what CRT means, so Ill just say lights. 1 red and 5 green. Thx
If yhe convergance chips were bad could that cause this problem?
no, thy're just lights through the boards in the back
it just stays on. it doesnt blink
I have someone who will do it for me. I just need to get the parts.
Thanks, is the Q777 located on the PWB?
thanks, any idea what board the Q777 and PF05 would be located?
I replaced the 2 STK's and still nothing, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thx
