When installing the cartridges, it is important
that you insert them from left to right with the black cartridge first and the magenta cartridge last. The reason for this is
because the magenta cartridge has a clip on top of it that goes into the
cartridge door sensor. The clip needs to push the sensor in
so the printer is able to function with the cartridge door open. If you
insert the magenta cartridge first, the printer will think the cartridge
door is closed and you will get a error message for the other missing
cartridges.
If you haven't yet, reseat the cartridges.
The cartridges have a small chip on them that is read by the printer.
If the chip is bad or missing, you'll get that error.Replace the toner cartridge that is causing the problem.
If you just bought the cartridge return it, HP warranties them.
Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
This error is normally associated with a supplies error. I have extracted information on this error from the HP 6L manual.
Error Codes Error 10 - Supplies Memory Error 10.XX.YY Exact format is dependent on printer modelThe printer is unable to read the electronic information (elabel) on the print cartridge. This helps track page count and life of consumable. XX Description 00 memory error on the cartridge or 01 memory device not found 10.00.00 Black print cartridge 10.00.01 Cyan print cartridge 10.00.02 Magenta print cartridge 10.00.03 Yellow print cartridge
Supplies used in newer printer models contain a memory chip. The information contained on this chip is dependent on the printer model and the supply. The error 10 indicates a problem with the printer obtaining the information from this chip. The chip may be missing or defective or contain incorrect information. There may be a problem with connection between the memory chip and DC controller. Turn the printer off/on to attempt to clear or reset the message. Remove and reinstall the supply, replace the supply.
Replace the memory chip cable/connector or the DC controller. How did we do?
Hope this helps helps. Please keep us updated and remember to rate this answer. TF
I had a like problem and found that the chip on the cartridge was mounted without enough spacer such that contact was not being made with the memory controller PCB connector. I cut some two-sided tape and put it behind the chip such that it stuck out further so that better contact could be made and the problem was solved.
When you take the toner cartridge off the imaging unit, is there magenta toner in the open slot of the IU? Assuming that there is nothing wrong with the toner cartridge, you are possibly looking at a bad engine control board.
Make sure all cartridge are install and secured into place...(take all the cartridge out and back in ) close front door cover and it will go into cartridge calibration...If not, press the "menu" key and with the arrow go to print quality and confirm with the enter key. Go to calibration and confirm...
