The MP Tray is just above the main paper tray and can be accessed by opening the MP Tray door. To open, pull on either the left or right side of the front door by the circular cutout.

Hi Judy,

Please follow the steps posted below:
1. Remove the paper from the MP tray
2. Remove any jammed paper from in and
around the MP tray
3. Close the MP tray. Then open the front
cover and close it to reset the machine.
4. Open the MP tray again
5. Fan the paper stack, and then put it back
in the MP tray
6. When loading paper in the MP tray,
make sure that the paper stays under
the maximum paper height guides on
both sides of the tray

Let me know if this resolves the issue,

Thanks,

Manual feed isnt working. once tray 1 is open i thought it would automatically know i want to use manual feed.

Not necesarily so, it depends on how you have the printer configured. To test the MP tray, use the arrow keys to get to troubleshooting menu, press check, use arrow keys to get to paper path test, press check, set tray option to tray 1, then print test page. Printer should feed from MP tray. If it does, then the problem is that you do not have the printer set to print from MP tray first or you have the tray options set to exclusive which means that if your print job asks for tray 2 then printer will not print from MP tray unless you specify MP tray in the print options.

My OKI C5500 will only print from the MP tray, and will not take paper from the bottom paper tray, even though there is plenty of paper in the bottom tray. Its giving me a 490 Error message, but I do NOT...

490 error means -

LOAD mmm AND PRESS ONLINE SWITCH 490: MP TRAY EMPTY

Print job from MP Tray has been received and the MP Tray is empty.

Load the requested media (mmm) in the MP Tray and press ON-LINE.

Check your print driver settings and see if your defualt try is set for the MP Tray. Also see if the page setup for the print job is set for MP tray.

Can this printer automatically choose the paper tray i.e. if the MP tray is open will it choose that instead of the cassette?

MP tray needs to be set on FIRST*
When paper is in MP tray, thats where the printer will automatically take it from. When there is no paper in the MP tray, or it is closed, the printer will take from the cassette.

IBM infoprint 1422 won't feed through paper tray, only works with mp loader

Ok.... I have these printers at work...and i think i have figured this one out :
Under setup menu , goto configure mp , then switch the settings from cassette to manual. You see these printers are used at Hotels where the bottom tray is for legal size paper used to make key packets and the mp is used for regular sized paper printing reciepts....Hilton family hotels use them for example....the next thing I'm trying to figure out is how to set it so I won't have to push the go button every time I print something
