You need to open up the back cover of the TV and check for any cracked /loose wiring connection on the PCBoard .the fell has nothing to do with the remote sensor as long as the sensor is not broken.that is probably a loose board so go and have a close look at the PC board resolder if you found any craked use a jumper wire to re connect them..good luck!
Hello
You have to open it up to rectify this fault ofcourse. Due to hard hits, microswitches inside it may got damaged. Microswithces are the contact points when you operate the tV by the front panel. they can be located just behind the front panel switches, and inside your tV. To access it you have to open your TVs back cover. It is easy to locate these, and these will be small square shaped switches, directly soldered to a printed circuit board, and fitted on the front panel side of your tv. If anyome of these got strucked due to any hard hit, the whole front panel controls won't work; including remote sensor. You can also see the infrared remote sensor on that board. This is a three terminal part, usually look black in colour, there is a number laser printed printed on its side, and should be noted when you go to buy a new one. Replace the all microswitches at the same time. They are easly available, and cheap also. Desolder one amoung them and keep it in hand as a sample when you go to buy them, because there are so many types, differ each other in diamension and pin confuguration. Note for any printed circuit board breack or crack happend due the fall. If so, just bridge the cracks with a nice piece of copper wire, or two or three twisted copper strands from a wire. That is enough if there is a cracked. Normally this printed circuit board cannot be available. So repair it, if it has crack on it. Just examine very keenly for crak, as these may be sometimes microscopic.
If you wants anymore assistance, feel free to touch me through Fixya. OK.
Haven't you checked for any break in the circuit boars? I've directed to do this. Just check for any break or loose soldering contacts to the component leads, as it can be cthe cause. Ok.
Ofcourse. Do it. Take photo and email to me. [email protected]

Hello
You haven't send me any photo. Send me one and get me what has happened with your set.
Hello
The ribbon cable you say ahs metal contacts on its end with onside only. If the insertion of the cable at the socket end has got reversed, there will be no connection with it to the board. Check whether it has reversed in position or not. The crack, if any, may be of micron type, will poise the problem. Because the TV has got a hard hit, as you say, it will be not easy to predict which part has been damaged. If it was in working condition, and struked away, i may have reach to the point of fault, from your desctiption. Anyway, check the above said connection position. OK.

Hey thanks for you response. I have the TV opened up, I can see the switches and all on the panel/circuit board. The infrared remote sensor, switches, and speaker are all wired to this panel.
The panel was disconnect from what looked like a plastic ribbon with a few metal contact point on the end. It was obvious where that ribbon inserted onto the small circuit board with the switches on it....so i plugged the ribbon into the switches circuit board, plugged in the TV, and hit the "power on" switch, and I have nothing. Maybe the actual circuit panel/board is broken?
Thanks for the help...I have everything opened up now....took the internal part of the tv out of the case. I can't see anything loose or cracked....should I open up the case that houses the power inlet and the dvi and vga ports and check that?
I've checked. I have the tv removed from the case. I have checked all the parts and don't see anything cracked or loose. Is there anything else I should check? Should I open the internal casing that is covering the power inlet and the vga and dvi ports as well?
Only issue that I saw was the ribbon with metal contact points was disconnected from the small chip that has the internal buttons (power, channel, volume, menu etc) on it.
I reconnected the ribbon onto the slot in the chip but it did not help?
Anything else I should look for while I have this tv all apart?
Thanks for all your help.
Ok I found something in the internal board...looks like there should be a connection on one of the parts that needs soldered...is it possible to take a photo and email it to you?
Photos were sent yesterday. Thank you.
How do I post the photo here?
