Touchpad zone is on upper left of the touchpad: Turning the TouchPad on and off The TouchPad is turned on at the factory. When the TouchPad zone is active, the light is off. I have this HP pro book 4520s. the problem i am facing is that the mouse pad is very sensitive and i am unable to write any thing my hand touches the mouse pad and it moves to some other place . the option you are talking about above i am unble able to use it even tapping it , it is not working and i am unable to find any option there in windows where i can disable the touch pad so that i am can use the keyboard properly.

Thank you for posting this. I also learned a couple of things.....Be sure to double tap the "light" on the touch pad to enable it. When booting the computer, you will see a fade out icon in the middle of your monitor with an X on it indicating that the touchpad had been disabled.
And yes, you can have both the touch pad and a mouse working at the same time
