Was watching tv tonight when suddenly the screen went black.
Sound still works but got no picture.
Is my tv requiring the boards to be changed and if so where in australia can they be bought from
I have the same problem, took the screen to an approved LG repairer, the cost is:
one board $200
two boards $450
and if the three boards need replacing .. a whopping $700!!
Apparently, this problem is quite common and is an easy fix, if you know how and which board. The guy I spoke with knew exactly what was wrong, but the cost of the boards is stupid, and he knew it.
LG will not supply the boards to me, I must go thru an LG service centre to get them.
Michael.

Got the same, there was a 'pop' then just the black screen, the picture occasionally had a 'blue snowy effect' for the last 2 days, (been experiencing 'flecks' in black/dark secenes for ages prior)

My 32' LG LED TV has suddenly lost picture! The sound is all right but the Screen is pitch black. After switching it on the picture flashes for a second and then the screen goes completely black.

If you have sound, than a bad ground may have occured on the horizontal transformer or the vertical IC. These will have to be resoldered. In the event the vertical IC is resoldered you should have the capacitors immediately near this IC checked and replaced as necessary! I would imagine you are speaking about the older picture tube type TV. This info is for most tube type TVs. Hope this will help! Thanks for asking!
Dear Sir,
unfortunately tonight you will not be able to watch this TV set. Please try with an alternative solution.
This job definitely requires a professional technician
