I read a blog on your site about Kenwood stereo's. I used that information to unlock my stereo security code. Albiet, I did have to figure out a bit of the code needed myself. I am again able to listen to music on my stereo.

Can i get the code for a KDC-mp828 without remote just bought vehicle stereo system already installed and I'm 100% clueless

This deck uses a unique security code that is created when activated and can't be reset or otherwise determined. If you do not know this code, Kenwood may take it in and reset it for you, but would require taking the entire deck to a service depot that repairs kenwood electronics. Read more on page 42 here:

My battery died and I had to get a new battery. I can not remember the security code for the car radio KDC-MP342u can you help?

You may have to contact the manufacturer for details on that. Check in your owners manual for the phone number of their customer service. I had a similar problem after changing battery but found the answer right in the manual. Mine was a Kia.

Kenwood KDC-3035

by now someone should have told you to disconnect the battery...press reset button...enter new security code...this should work if radio is not reported stolen because these paticular radios are used by satellite radio hams who like clean lines in there cars...excellent radios getting hard to find. had one ripped out of my car a kenwood sr700 and my only consolation is that it was a waste of time for the thief.

Kenwood kdc-mp 825

it's a Canadian Kenwood.
http://inform3.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/KDC-MPV8025.pdf
I had the 925 purchased from Ebay, but I sold the car with it.
it's probably the ribbon wire broken between the face and the unit. I know that on Ebay some they use to offer a repair for these type of units.

Unlock

You must have the remote to clear the security code. If you do not have a remote, this will not work and there is no other way to clear the code. If you do not have a remote you must either buy one or borrow one from a freind who has a kenwood radio. Most all of the remotes for the last 5 to 8 years will work. If you can not get a remote, you can take the radio's to a authorized Kenwood service center and they can clear the code for a reasonable cost. My shop charges $25, that should be about what other shops charge.

This first one is for the KDC-MP528

1. When you are requested to enter the security code, while
pressing down on [AUTO] key, use a long-press on >>I key
for 3 seconds. (----disappears.)
2. Using the remote controller, input “KCAR.”
Press remote controller [5] key 2 times and then press >>I
key. (Input for “K.”)
Press remote controller [2] key 3 times and then press >>I
key. (Input for “C.”)
Press remote controller [2] key once and then press >>I
key. (Input for “A.”)
Press remote controller [7] key 2 times and then press >>I
key. (Input for “R.”)
3. The security is released and the unit enters the STANDBY
sourcing mode.
4. If a wrong code is input, the unit goes into the Code Request
mode.

Now this is for the KDC-MP828

1. While “– – – –” is being displayed, press [>>I ] key for at
least 3 seconds while pressing [AUTO] key.
This makes “– – – –” display disappear.
2. Using the remote controller, input “KCAR”.
Press remote controller [5] key 2 times (Input for “K”) and
then press [>>I ] key.
Press remote controller [2] key 3 times (Input for “C”) and
then press [>>I ] key.
Press remote controller [2] key once (Input for “A”) and then
press [>>I ] key.
Press remote controller [7] key 2 times (Input for “R”) and
then press [>>I ] key.
3. The security is released and the unit enters the STANDBY
mode.
4. If a wrong code is input, the unit goes into the Code Request
mode.

A rating of "FixYa!" would be appreciated for this free information.

Thanks,

Dave

UNLOCK SECURITY CODE

for your kdc-mp528 will work whith code KCAR entered from the remote

Common Kenwood Security Codes
Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
Entering Your Kenwood Security Code
If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code.

The procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures:

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds until the "..." display disappears.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 2
Press and hold the "Auto" button and "Track up" (next track button on the right) on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Entering Letters on your Kenwood Remote
To enter a letter using your Kenwood remote, press a button once for the first letter, twice for the second letter, and three times for the third letter -- then press the Track Up or Next Track key to send the letter.

To send the letter 'A', press the 2 key once and then press the Track Up key. To send the letter 'B', press the 2 key twice and then press the Track up key.

Finally, when you are done entering all of the letters, press and hold the Track Up button for 3 seconds.

The key sequence to enter the security code KCAR is:

5
5
Track Up
2
2
2
Track Up
2
Track Up
7
7
Track Up
Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

i hope this works for you.
