I start playing a DVD Video on my new Sony bdp s360. After a few minutes, the player stops and a message appears on the screen "an error has been detected". At same time the player display shows a message "dl 0 / 9". I have double checked the DVD discs and they are OK, as I can play them normally on another player. Is the issue related to the player set up or is it the player itself not working properly?

Give the lens a clean with a soft cue tip or cotton bud with methalated spirits.should be fine after that,its a reading problem,and even the finest of fur or dust can cause this

The chances of getting 2 bad rentals in a row are very slim, but not impossible. If your player plays all other DVDs fine, then my money's on the Redbox DVDs being bad, or even fake (people have been known to keep the actual movies, and return fakes to the machine).
you might have a loss connection? what kind of cable are you using ? hdmi / component / composite? unplug the power cord to the ac outlet for 30 secs. and plug it in back. this is to refresh the unit. turn on fan on the configuration of the unit ... please read the operating manual ...
