You need a recording device to do it, a recording software and most of all an

interface.

Using two balanced lines either TRS or XLR depending on what is on your M audiointerface, connect the L and R main outputs of the mixer to the L and R inputs of the M Audio. You will need recording software on your computer.

SOURCE: I cant get my mackie

check your cables, on some Mackie boards press the switch to enable master out, make sure the mute or cancle button is not pressed. i have a 2404 vlzpro mixer it's simular to yours, if you have any problems, you can call Mackie direct if the issue is not solved, it could be a bad button, fuse or slide controle, or even a fuse

What is the setup you are using. What mics (make and model). What are the settings for the channels? With this info, I should be able to assist.

Please update this.

SOURCE: I have a mackie 12 channel mixer, but don't

Just use balanced audio interconnect cables (XLR or TRS) between the mixer and the M-Audio interface.

Firewire inputs do not work

Check in the computer "Device manager" if a PC with windows, and see if there are any devices with an yellow "X" through them- the port may have an interrupt conflict.

Then check audio properties of the system to make sure the devices are selected and enabled, and their volume level is up- even if you are operating through the Mackie software console.

If a Mac- check the Chooser to make sure that input device has been selected.

My samson microphone c01u works but i cant hear my mic thru my speakers it does not record out

That's normal. You're supposed to record a track and then play it back. In order to hear it live you would need to enable "software playthrough" in your recording software, but there will be a delay, so it probably won't be much use.

When I arm a track to record in tracktion 3 I get a delay when monitoring playback.

If you monitor the recording there are two delays... one as audio is converted and stored... the next is when it is retrieved and converted back to audio. Usually the recording interfaces have a monitor function that loops the audio back out before the conversion. playing back previously recorded audio of course will have the delay to retrieve and convert back to audio.

I have 1604-Vlz3 mixer recorded on cubase5 best matchable sound card is? I have M-audio delta 1010LT.This not so good sound.after recording. For like "Bollowood Hindi VocaSetting" EQSettings...

The problem is that card has only UNBALANCED inputs. You really need balanced or first run the mixer outputs through a DI backwards. Frankly, I would recommend NOT using a card within the PC as there is so much digital noise. Use either a USB or Firewire external convertor and for goodness sakes use balanced lines from teh Mackie... ALL interconnected equipment needs to be powered from the same receptacle or source. M Audio, Roland/Cakewalk and Presonus all make cards as do others.

While the Mackie Onyx 1220i unit is plugged into my computer I can port the sound through to my headphones via the headphone jack on the console. When I listen to sound play for about 2 minutes I'll...

OK... first thing is to DUMP ALL anti-virus and Anti_spyware and real time defragging programs as these resource hogs **** processing away from teh sound generation. Also is you are recording at the same time, if your disk is fragmented requiring a lot of head movement to record the time lags can cause buffer underruns and break up of audio... and eventually having the audio program "crashing" due to lack of throughput.
When doing audio work suspend all the resource hogs like the above mentioned programs. It is a good idea when recording CD's as well.

What exactly do I need to connect a Mackie 402-VLZ3 to a Macbook Pro ? Where can I buy the cables? Thanks!

The internal audio systems in the PC's are inadequate for high quality work. You should get an external audio system that attaches via firewire or USB to your MAC. Then use balanced cables from the mixer to this audio interface. There are MANY different audio interfaces... Search the music equipment suppliers in the "recording" section of their catalog...
