SOURCE: PC input to Sony Bravia - from Sony Vaio Laptop - unsupported sig
Hi Julie,
There are a couple ways to go here. I'll give you the procedures step by step. If you want clarification on anything, just ask. If I make an assumption that is wrong, stop me and let me know. The more you know, the easier this will be for both of us.
First I'd like to double check on MisterSony's diagnosis. Refresh rates that are too high end up as a black screen on many LCD models.
This is my first assumption, the display settings are currently for both monitors. Your original screen is still functioning.
If so,
Get back to me with the results. If it was already set at 60Hz. We go to the next step.

The problem is that, according to the specs for that TV, it doesn't support 1080p.
That's a 720p television you've got. (Specs here)
While the specs say that it supports 1080p, the resolution says it supports 1366 x 768, which is only 720p, not 1080p or even 1080i.
You may want to contact Sony for clarification, because their specs for that tv are contradicting each other.

Check the connections between the cable box and the TV. If you are using scart check the connector is in squarely if using rgb or composite you need a separate audio connection using the red and white phon sockets.

I have a KDL-46VL130 with the same problems. Audio on the HDMI connection turns on and off intermittently when I have it connected with my ATT Uverse rcvr. I check w/ Sony online support and they led through the standard troubleshooting process ... which I knew going in would not fix the problem. Ultimately they told me to try a new HDMI cable first, or try a different video source for the HDMI, other than my ATT U-Verse reciever and see if the problem persists. Having seen other articles on this issue, i am almost certain that is not going to fix the problem... and to think that I paid $2000 for this thing.
